When I was looking at buying a Rolex a number of years back, I narrowed it down to two, Explorer 1 (39mm) or Milgauss GV.

After trying on the Milgauss I was a little disappointed if I'm honest (to shiny, and just didn't feel right) and blown away by the Explorer 1.

It was an easy choice in the end and thanks to Dom H. it arrived a few weeks later.

Having come across the 2016 Air King I think my choice would have been a whole lot harder.

I have been looking at a few reviews on YouTube of the air king and it really looks nice and well proportioned.

The new Air King uses the same case and bracelet as the Milgauss. I'm glad Rolex have increased the size of the Air-King, 34mm was too small for me. The 'Bloodhound' dial is too busy for me, and the mixed up numbers don't work for me, but I'm sure they will introduce different dial designs in the future, so definitely one to watch.

Yes, seems you either love the Air King, or hate it.
Personally I love it and have bought one.

Not only case and bracelet, but the same mechanism as the Milgauss, with the same antimagnetic properties.

How is the watch working out for you btw.
Any pictures.

When i say i bought one, i mean my wife went and bought one for me as i am still in Iraq. Been looking at them for a while and had my name down at Goldsmiths in Middlesbrough, wont get to see it in the flesh till i get home on Thursday! She also thinks it looks stunning in the flesh. Will post pics next week.

Lucky lads and congrats. I only came across them on YouTube the other day.
Still happy with the Explorer 1. Would have been tearing my hair out though if it had been an option at the time.

Personally I love the new one with the numerals on the dial (black face) but I personally feel it covers the same ground as my datejust so I'm not buying.

If I was looking for a smart day to day watch that could be warn at all occasions I can't think of a nicer one at the moment.

What is is with Rolex that they have to write a shopping list on the dial?

They've managed to use four different fonts too. Five if you include the dial numbers.

Really really like my new air king, only bug bare is its a bit tight, have it on maximum extension, ( only 3 lug holes inside the bracelet clasp) and also have the comfort extension out fully, spoke to my AD about another link and been told it will be £70!
Is this usual nowadays? All my other Rolex's came with 2 extra links.

Wish I had your problem of needing another link for my new air king smile. Health to drive.

listening to richard noble today he was talking about bloodhound SSC and apparently the calibrated rolex dials in the vehicle inspired the new air king dial. There will likely be a speed king also released once the record is broken, but it looks like the 1000mph run has been put back to 2018.
