I have a watch with a Miyota 9015, which is faulty. I've bought a new movement, and I fancy swapping it myself (I have the tools).

With cheaper Chinese movements, the winder just pulls out to remove it from the movement. Is that the same with this one, or is there a trick to removing it?

Also, is it easy enough to remove the date wheel? The movement I bought is black on white, and I want to reuse the original white on black.

TIA

Ok, thanks. I inherited loads of tools from my dad, so I'm pretty sure I have the necessary one.

I wonder what it looks like....

Just to close this one off; the swap was straightforward, and went without a hitch. Except I didn't change the date ring over, as that looks a bit more complicated, requiring a bit more dismantling than I was confident with, and one of the tiny brackets holding the movement in was broken, so the movement moves slightly when setting the time or winding, although its rock-solid when the crown is screwed in.

Currently testing the power reserve...

You must replace the two locking plates these lock the movement securely to the case, without them you stress the winding stem that is why the movement stays still when the crown is locked, but with each jolt the stem will flex and eventually snap.
Yeah, I know that really... I'm just not sure where to get a 3x2mm piece of metal that's thin enough.

Sorry, I've only just seen this. That's really generous of you, and a fantastic indictment of how decent many PHers can be.

Except that I knocked up a clip thing out of sprung steel in the garage this afternoon. It fitted nicely, and whilst it's a bit scratched, I don't have a display back, so it's all about function over form.
