Ha Ha .....I take my own oil also .......it's £18 per ltr cheaper (Mobil 1 from Costco ) and as my car takes 11L of oil !! it saves me £200 !

I've found an accommodating jeweller in Hatton Garden, who gets great reviews. He's very happy for me to supply the stone, and very keen to make the rest of the ring for me.

I see nothing wrong in this. As has been said by someone else, I'm very happy to pay for his time, expertise and skills butI'm not sure I should pay a premium for him to order a diamond for me, I'm quite capable of that myself. Everyone needs to make a living, but he will have a nice commission from me and is happy to do so.

I also ended up buying from an online(ish) retailer. 77 Diamonds, emailed eddie, and fully support his position, but ended up taking the mrs to look, who then fell in love with a stone and the rest is history. Also checked blue nile prices and found 77 Diamonds to be cheaper. If eddie had been closer I could have worked it better!

With 77 diamonds, they had a lot of stones in stock which I could look at at their office, but the stone I wanted had to be brought in, which there was a non-refundable deposit for, fortunately it was fine. They had a few off the shelf ring choices, but the mrs had something different in mind, which they drew up and had their bespoke team make for us. Overall, I have to say I can't fault the service which was great at all times. Was originally planning to buy the stone separately from the ring, but they did a great job

Did the hatton garden tour also, and can't help thinking that they're a load of fast talking wide boys, all reading from the same script. "This ring is usually £25k but we're doing our accounts this week so I can let you have it for £8k today only...." literally the same line in 4 places...
