So a 2003-2004 Sea-Dweller for 4.7k.. that a decent price. https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalog...
I'm looking at one right now, same age, black dial and bezel for £4.2k.
Fellows is legit. A cerachrome bezel pretty certainly means a randomized serial so wouldn't make any odds popping the bracelet to check.
Also, floor staff in a pawnbrokers getting paid living wage if lucky are unlikely to know the nuances of every prestige watch, as mentioned by Jez M the big chains have sizeable back of house operations to ensure they don't get caught out.
Guessing your H&T Jez M?? I was in the industry at a senior level myself.

Not sure if it would have the ceramic bezel if it's a 2003 It's also lost its papers since it was last auctioned as according to that old listing it had them with it.
None of the 16600's have a ceramic bezel. You need to go to the newer SD4000's for that - the 116600 - which is 2014 onwards. And which doesn't much resemble a 16600 exceptinsofaras it has Sea-Dweller written on the dial Just as an update to this thread, I visited the shop again a couple of months later down the line and as they still had this in stock I made a cheeky offer. They needed to speak to head office to ok it and as of today it's mine
Need to organise some time to head over to actually pick it up but looking forward getting it.

Well done chum, you don't wear the 'papers'. The right price and condition should be the decider. A Rolex service down the line will give you the green warranty card that should assure a buyer it's legit and likley make up for the cost of the service if you sell it on.Need to organise some time to head over to actually pick it up but looking forward getting it.
I've got all the papers from my 1993 SubD which actually means sweet FA as I never plan to sell it.

Just come back from a little trip to to the shops and happened upon one of these. I've been mulling over a few different watches but the complete lack of interest from any rolex dealer as soon as you mention a sports model has been a little off putting.
Anyway, we passed a "we buy gold etc" type place and low and behold they had two sea dwellers in the window. One a 2000 model with full box and papers and the other a more modern version dated "unknown".
The unknown one interested me more as the condition was better. I'm guessing it was the ceramic bezel as it didn't have the pins in the lugs where the bracelet meets the case. They didn't know which year it was, even when I asked them why they hadn't removed the bracelet to see the serial number, the ladies answer being "oh they won't get that involved in stuff like that"!
Price was £4750 with a one year guarantee.
Now I should imagine a minimum 10% to be achieved off their asking price but disregarding buying a watch form a high street pawnbrokers who can't even be bothered to look at a serial number I wondered what people thought?
snap it up right away and then post photos on the wrist check thread so everyone can tell you you aren't allowed to post fakes.
