Wife's Christmas present (Tudor)
Discussion
After looking at longines, Tag, Baume & Mercier a few months ago my wife picked the B&M Classima. I've been hanging out for ages since then for no particular reason and today decided to buy it. So I went to Bluewater and bought her a Tudor. When I had both the watches in my hand the Tudor felt better built, in particular the bracelet. I hope she likes it or it's another trip back to the shops.
I don't really know why I'm posting on here apart from maybe looking for people to tell me I'm right and she is wrong.

To my eye, those two watches are very different. The Tudor may feel better built, but it is much more masculine in styling with the integrated lugs and sword hands; the jewelled hour marks look like a nod to feminise a utilitarian design. The Classima is more floral with the centre contrast on the dial and shaped hands.

True but I think she should prefer the Tudor. If not then I will get myself a Tudor and I can find her a second hand B&M bargains for £4.50. Jamesgt said:

No worries, you know your wife's taste while my success with women could be counted on the needles of January's Christmas tree. The Tudor is similar to a Lady Datejust that one of my colleagues wears; it is a fine watch. Tudor is nicer IMHO. But it is not my watch, it is not your watch. It's your wifes and she did not choose the Tudor...
There are plenty of women who'd prefer Michael Kors to any decent watch. They are wrong, but giving them what they don't want (because you know better) won't make them happy.
Brace yourself OP...

The B&M is a better looking watch and that is all she will care about. Go back to the shop, James, and change it before it's too late.I don't really know why I'm posting on here apart from maybe looking for people to tell me I'm right and she is wrong.
I feel your pain!
I bought my wife a Michael Kors watch on our way back from honeymoon a few years ago as she wanted something quite nice and always like them. I usually hate MK watches as blingy but this one was rose gold details with a leather strap and a leather covered bezel - was quite understated and rather nice.
Fast forward to now. I have quite a few watches myself but now we have a daughter I felt I wanted something that the wife could wear and could be passed on at a later date. So I started looking for a nice mechanical watch and sending some pictures to the wife to try and get a feel for what style she liked (she had tried on some of my watches to get an idea of size).
It had to have rose gold, had to have a date and she would prefer a metal bracelet. Had it narrowed down to a Hamilton or a Longines and she then said "does it have the stopwatch bit that mine has?" I almost felt like strangling her! Back to square one.
In the end I found a Tissot that ticked all the boxes. Unfortunately it was about double what I was planning to spend but I thought that since it will go to my daughter in the future it would be worth it. The fact I got 10% off and a free watch winder also helped...

I'm going to be brave on this one. She did like the Tudor. The thing that put her off the Tudor wasn't the looks but that she's heard poor mans rolex. She has actually changed her mind a thousand times before so if the wind is blowing the right direction I should be ok!
I thought she'd chosen the B&M and you just selected the Tudor on a whim! But if she's already rejected that and you've gone and bought it, then yes, you need to find yourself back in the watch shop PDQ!mikeveal said:

Rule number one of marriage, when going shopping for the missus buy what you are told and show that you are able to follow instructions to the letter and not undermine her judgement.

Jeez guys. She coerced me into a Range Rover sport a few years ago! I think I owe her a watch she doesn't want. I'm going back to work today (near blue water) so I need to make up my mind later. You like the Tudor because it's more solid and masculine (like your good self no doubt). She prefers the other one. With one watch, you are taking an unnecesssary gamble, with the other you are buying something you know she likes.
Are you feeling lucky?
