Just to update things, the watch has arrived smile I sourced through Heritage Watches in the end. The communication could have been better but we got there in the end.

Beautiful watch.

Congratulations a fantastic looking watch. I do like the 372, would go for one myself if it wasn't for my concerns over marking up the plexi which I know i'd manage to do in no time.

I read scratches can be easily polished out at a service.

I understand they can be. It'd drive my OCD nuts until I got rid of any scratches or marks on it though, hence why I tend to go for something a bit hardier.

I had read this thread when it first appeared, and for some reason I thought you were getting the 533. I thought the wrong watch has been delivered when I saw the photo above.

I bought my own special b'day present late 2015, and it was my first watch. Despite my accident (do be careful especially with the leather strap - read more here - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing//topic.asp?h=0&... I love mine. Also the service from Panerai I was fearful of was actually very good in the end.

As it transpired since my original post, I actually rarely wear the stainless steel strap anymore, and wear the leather one(s). This being my particularly strange, and favourite one at the moment:-

Enjoy it - I am sure you will!

Thanks for the steer to your tread. Ouch, I will try to avoid a heavy drop. The option to easily swap straps is very appealing. I hear Toshi Straps are a good option. If anyone knows any others I'd be grateful to know. I was after a 'rough-round-the-edges' distressed look like this:

In my original thread I show the watch on a brown leather (genuine calf leather) Panerai strap. It has obviously not been worn that much, due to it only being worn at weekends, various straps used (I have the bracelet, the brown calf one, a black alligator one, and the green alligator one shown above), and being with Panerai being repaired for a while.

It is not as distressed as the one you show - but is starting to wear nicely - and eventually will get there. How often do you want to wear it, as you could create your own distressed look?

Thanks for the advice. I intend to wear the Panerai as I currently do my Seamaster - all times other than sports or when there is a risk of damage when working / tinkering / gardening etc.

Wow it is a stunning watch.

The distressed leather strap is often referred to as an ammo strap, coz they are made from old ammo pouches! There are loads of makers online, to me that's the fun of Panerai. Strap whoring lol

This might be useful and or dangerous

Also Etsy has some great straps.

Don't just stick to brown PAMs can look great on more out there straps

Looks great; as for straps, check out Aaron's at Combat straps - have two and they are exquisitely done. The assolutamente it's on in the pic will patina up fabulously with wear too wink

Excellent links thanks guys. So much choice, I had no idea! I will see how the standard strap beds in, also give the rubber one a go at some point but I can see myself getting a couple more at least biggrin
