So given PH is a fundamentally car based site, what's the equivalency of brand hierarchy of watches to cars?

Are Patek the Ferrari and Audemars the Lamborghini?

Curious as to how people view watches....

There's a brilliant top 10 thread somewhere on here. I'm on my phone but will try and dig it out...

Maybe in terms of price but not in terms of class.

So this was what I'm curios about.

How do the watch cognoscenti view the premium watch brands?

Rolex probably equates to a Ferrari.

A Patek might be more like a Bristol.

From a car perspective......perversely obscure and out of date.

Don't they call Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin the holy trinity of watch making?

Then of course there is Breguet.

These things will always be a little subjective, but this is pretty much bang on. Worryingly well considered.

AP. Surely not Ferrari. Needs to be linked to a car that the only reason the owner bought it is because he could afford it. Can't think of one though. :-)

Nope. They are hideous. i would say they are in the "maybach" of the car world. Ugly. Expensive. But you are letting everyone know you are loaded and probably a bit of a rod.
