Any suggestions on a cool time piece, I like the angular faces, like black and silver contrast and a strong robust rubber strap. I like the main stream brands brietling omega (hublot prob can't afford) also like some left field brands like Uboat. Giving a fair bit of consideration to a brietling gmt Bentley but would like some suggestions please. Thanks

Depends what Hublot you want i suppose, a Big bang may well be out of budget, but a 45mm silver Classic Fusion isn't...

http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Hublot/Classic%20Fusi...

or a 42mm in black

http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Hublot/Classic%20Fusi...

Agree on the Bentley and Uboats both nice looking watches, and good value used.

How about:

Bell and Ross?

Corum? something like the 'Admiral cup comp' 48mm?

or

The 2nd link chronomat still has over 4 years warranty, 2016 model.

Panerai?

http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Panerai/Luminor%20GMT...

These hold value well, and new are still only £5600 i think so when compared to used might be possible to get discounted to your £5K?

Thanks Andyman, some nice suggestions especially the brietlings, I find the hublots a bit plain for my likings. This was the brietling that I really like but can't afford it frown

That is really very nice, very stealth, its a good chunk of cash that though, and it'll lose you some money as well i'd guess. Even with a cheeky 15% discount you'll struggle to get that Sub £7K.

Have you asked watchfinder to try find you a used one,?or is this a 2017 new model/style colour etc.

You have a good budget though, lots of nice stuff around for that, also depends on how old you will go for a used. Most decent watch re-sellers will give you 1 or 2 years on used watches.

Have a look on here:

Speak with Ian - he sources many watches, I've bought from him before, he does a lot of sales with Hull City FC has an ex player working for him, and his stock levels are very good, he gives 2 years warranty on much of his stock and has a shop in Mayfair as well.

Hublot's can be found Pre Owned with a decent price drop. I like the box they come in.

I know, i've been looking at a new rolex at around £6550 and to be honest a £12K Hublot big bang used (2/3 year old is about the same) makes you think...i know the Rolex will hold value and such, but its a lot of watch for the money with these Hublot's.

I'm like you on that, although it looks really good that one, made by Rolex... in fact i'm told that these Tudor were the originator of the Rolex, so heritage go back a long way, and again am told are every bit as good.

I dont own one though, and like you dont feel an urge to own one either...cant really fully explain why though..

TBH the classic is "only" £6k new which I didn't realise, have always viewed Hublot as a 10k+ brand. Looks like the big bangs pretty much halve in value used.

Problem with Hublot is that until quite recently (2011 I think) they used ETA movements, so in terms of being a manifacture it is still quite young and "needs to prove itself".
I might be a snob but I still view them as a fashion brand and they need a few more years and new interesting watches (instead of an nth variation on the Big Bang theme) before establishing themselves as a true manufacture.
Therefore, in terms of investment potential or value retention, I wouldn't buy into the brand yet. Way overpriced too. As much as I hate Rolex's, they would be a safer bet.

(I know the above applies to Corum too, but at least they are very rarely seen and also they don't cost a fortune like Hublot's do)

The thing is , like you state , they were your Standard ETA Movement. Nothing wrong with that , they are a great workhorse. It's just when they put them in a 8k Hublot , someone is taking the piss. You could purchase a pre owned Patek with there own movement for that price.

I think Hublot spend more on the box. jk

From what i have read, theres not much wrong with an ETA movement, of course not as good in theory as any in house movements, but they go back a long way and are even a sister company to Omega i think.

My only other point is sometimes, and this goes for brands like Hublot, Omega, Breitling, Bell and Ross, Uboat anything with a 'trend' or 'image' sort of like fashion, this is what the younger buyers may want, and thats nothing to do with movements sadly. I must say i'm in my 30's and wouldn't wear a Patek, as 'to me' they nearly all look old fashioned, ask me again in 10-12 years i might say different. So i do get why a Hublot or a Breitling Bentley might appeal because they do to me, the price, well if no one bought them then they wouldn't sell so people must be prepared to justify it.

I can also only find love for 3 styles of Rolex as well, the GMT2 Black blue, and the Sub green, and the Deep sea the rest also look quite plain and a little 'reserved' but thats just me, suppose we all have different tastes. I like Bling! :-)

I'm not sure that Omega is seen or should be seen as a fashion brand.

Agree. Omega is most definitely not a fashion brand. I don't own one, but they're a proper watch - 1st watch on the moon too.

Getting seriously drawn to one of these at a fraction of the cost, anyone know the seller or how they are so cheap. Seems to good to be true but the seller does have great reviews.

Also can anyone point me in the direction of a new strap for my submariner?

Thanks
