I am looking to replace/supplement my ageing but trusty Seamaster with a new Seamaster Planet Ocean Titanium.

I know which model I want and how much it costs but a quick online search finds it advertised at a couple of UK suppliers at around £1k off RRP price, although neither has it in stock so I'm left with the concept of paying the thick end of £5k upfront to an unknown (to me) supplier for delivery in 2-4 weeks.

I want the full Omega warranty etc. but having seen the better price I am liking the potential saving, so looking for any advice/recommendations on where to safely source said watch at a decent price.

Have you not tried to get 'discount' on a new one at a high street retailer?

If you are paying cash or on card you can often get upto 20% discount by haggling and using other online offers i did this with my Seamaster Regatta. got £800 discount. Its worth a try.

I walked out on the day, watch on wrist and they price matched another retailer online over 100 miles away.

Whats to lose in trying?

Dom Hackett at Hackett Watches (DomH on here) should be able to help.

Yep. Dom is a lovely guy. I bought a watch for my wife through him last year. It was a new watch with full UK warranty and new stock (I wanted a 2016 manufactured watch as it was a milestone birthday). Highly recommended.

I can recommend Iconic watches- and currently have a Nomos on order from Chronext. So far that seems to be going OK.

Thanks for the replies.

No I've not tried haggling at a jewellers, I've no problem trying but didn't imagine there would be much movement available? actually 20% is about what I've seen online, although Iconic Watches are a fair way off that.

I'd seen DomH mentioned on other threads but thought he only dealt with used watches? I'll get in touch. thumbup

Dom has many connections, helped me get a healthy discount on a brand new Breitling.

I've bought new and used through Dom H, including a Planet Ocean ... Top bloke! I highly recommend him.

I pre-ordered the latest 215.30.44.21.01.001 from Banks-Lyon in Lancaster - got a 15% discount straightaway - didn't think that was too bad for something that hadn't been released at the time. Great communication from Aziza.

I sent him an email to ask about a second hand purchase. I'd found a watch and wanted to give him the chance to do better. He couldn't, but still took the time to ring back and chat for 10 mins. Top gent and his enthusiasm for watches is infectious.

Just go to a high street retailer and say you'll buy the watch if they match the online price. Big discounts on Omegas are normally possible.
