Buying a Rolex from ebay in Singapore
Discussion
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rolex-18K-Ruby-Diamond-D...
1. Will it be a genuine Rolex watch (yes I know the bezel and rubys are aftermarket) but would the base watch actually be a Rolex?
2. Will it actually turn up?
3. Will I have paypal protection against it being a fake/not turning up/etc
4. What is it actually worth being aftermarket diamonds/rubys?
To answer your questions Paul,
1. The base watch appears to be a correct Rolex 68240, with added non-original dial/bezel.
2. The seller has a feedback rating of +4500 and a 100%. It's likely that you will get what you pay for.
3. Not sure.
4. It will be worth to sell to trade around half of the asking price. It's an old Rolex with box or chronometer warranty paperwork, with non-original parts added. The cost/quality of these parts are very varied.
Don't forget that VAT and duty will be payable on the watch. This is likely to add c£700 to the cost. What sort of warranty is offered, and how practical will it be having any work carried out should an issue arise? The watch will almost certainly not be waterproof as the bezel is unlikely to have the same tolerance of the OE part.
With a budget of over £4000 would you not prefer to buy a much later standard watch? I don't sell this sort of watch, however I'm sure you can find a UK dealer who does, if that's what you are set on...
Hope this helps

Speak to Andy at: http://www.royhancocks.co.uk
My wife sourced her Rolex there, they refurbished my son's, and my dad's Omega.
In the jewellery quarter in Birmingham, Andy is ideally placed to find you what you want.
Say Catrina & David recommended him.

how the fk should we know? What I can say is that I would not even consider it. If you can afford a Rolex, get a proper one from an AD. If you can't, get something else.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rolex-18K-Ruby-Diamond-D...

Or consider another brand. A couple of years ago I bought my mother a used Omega Aqua Terra in steel with mother of pearl dial, diamond indices and diamond bezel. It was £2k. It's quite sparkly in the right light but classy with it.
