In particular their new Trident model with the automatic Sellita SW200 movement (ETA 2824-2 movement)

Does anyone rate the Christopher Ward watches regarding that £650 price-point? Seems to be mixed reviews but I'd take them with a pinch of salt I know. Thinking of buying this one as a gift for my fiancee:

Don't take my word for it; I'm biased (I have a dozen from CW).

I like 'em.

That is a nice watch

CW watches seem pretty nice, my only gripe would be the face, how hard would it have been to come up with another effect for the face other than the trademark omega seamaster ripple effect? *yes I realize the new ones don't have it...but it was a feature for donkeys years, still associated with the watch.

They could have so easily created their own effect.

Only some of the C60 dive watches have a wave pattern face, and isn't anyone's trademark.

One of the reasons I like this current offering is that they have moved away from a lot of the 'homage' features that their previous dive models had copied.

Overall it's a watch on its own, not a copy of anything, and very nicely put together.

I watched a youtube review and it looks like a proper nice solid expensive watch. Just not 100% sure on the movement but I guess you won't get anything better for the price and quality unless it's a quartz model or you spend over £1.5k on a certified movement.

Another biased owner (I only have 3), but they are really great watches and excellent value for money. The movements they use are the same ones many other more expensive watches use, they should perform well for many years and they are covered by the Christopher Ward 5 year warranty (worth looking up their 60/60 guarantee).

Buy one and enjoy it.

I think they're really very nice, the quality looks to my untrained eye as well made as a Tudor, though I'm not looking inside one. I too thought about the ripple face being daft when it's so associated with Omega.

I really dislike brands that change their logo so often, why not build some heritage? Plus the new logo is rubbish compared to the last and cheapens the watch IMHO.

They used to do the whole perm-sale thing which again cheapens their brand.

There are quite a few negatives about them but they are all subjective. The two things that really matter to me are do i like the look of them and are they well made and I think they score well on both.

I'd agree with most of that. But they don't match Tudor quality wise, but that isn't a criticism given the relative costs.

A slight bias, I have the previous 'non-facelift' of that watch, with the previous generation Chr.WARD logo at 12 - and I'm a huge fan.

It was a gift for my birthday, and luckily my ever-so-generous father realised that I have pipe cleaners for wrists and opted for the 38mm case. Initially I was sceptical about having a thick cased, heavy bracelet on my arm all day, especially at work (machinist) but I was soon used to the feel and now only take it off to sleep.

Of course, when my numbers come up I'd like something very special, the Rolex everose Yachtmaster and the Patek 5711 are my 2 current favourites, but I don't think my mortgage lender would agree if I tried to state that case...

In terms of the movement, I'm frequently brandishing heavy mallets and smacking stuff, and the watch never skips a beat, and is extremely accurate, for an automatic. Ive had to correct my C60 Pro once, to catch up 1 minute, and I've owned it 6 months. compared to my Dad's Submariner which is around 20 seconds a week or so, IIRC.

Got 2! I like them.

The one on a leather strap for something more chilled. The other SS model for work meetings when the yachtmaster or GMT batman would be a bit much.

I sometime choose one of the CWard tridents over the Rolex options if I feel like it. They are well made and offer good value.

Not sure about the new logo tho

I have a (by now) rather old Trident - S/N 366, from 2 or 3 logo revisions ago, back when that model was a much more obvious GMT Master homage:

I've been very happy with it, given that it's been a daily beater for most of a decade and thanks to a few years scrambling and bouldering has been bashed against countless rocks and climbing holds. I find the prices now slightly galling compared to what I paid (around £300 or so) but I guess that's inflation, improvements over the years, and CW being a somewhat more established watch brand than it used to be.

I bought this one with the stainless bracelet in the end, in the 38mm. It'll be a great surprise for my fiancee smile. A kind PH member gave me a promo code which meant I got £110 knocked off, so thank you to him.

She used to wear a 40mm Seiko divers watch for 2 years that I bought her which she loves but it's not keeping very good time anymore and I've tried regulating it myself but it's just not working very well.

At the end of last year I bought this for less than the cost of a service on my Breitling:

https://www.christopherward.co.uk/c7-rapide-chrono...

In fact I saved so much money by not having the crown and bezel replaced, that Breitling also wanted to do, that I have just ordered this as well for less than the total quote.

https://www.christopherward.co.uk/c60-trident-pro-...

Oh, and I got the Breitling serviced by Joe at Anglesey Watch and Clock, including ultrasonic ally cleaning and freeing the bezel, for £75.

What's not to like?

I had been looking at buying a second hand "proper watch" but at the same price as the C60 T600 I could just get Tags really, and I just didn't fancy one of those. Just too common! At least I can be almost sure that I will be the only person in ex office with a CW, for the moment, despite their marketing and promotions!

I have the exact same watch but it's certainly not as accurate as yours. I might get in touch with them as it's not 3 years old. Nice watch all the same.

No a snide will have Rorex on the dial, A CW will have CW on the dial,

Actually I think the previous Chr,Ward motif at12 was nicer than the new motif but ... haho smile

Ive got one and it does look like a lot more money than they cost but I still can't work out whether it's a quality timepiece or an Oscar Emil ,£99 with a £999 RRP

I don't think they'll ever be that sought after because CW seems to be the DFS of watch retailers, a sale every 6 weeks
