An imitation rolex for less money - may as well buy a snide Rolex
I see what you mean, I can't help but notice all of those Rolex models with Neptune's Trident for a second hand and a guilloche on the face. Paul Drawmer said:

I see what you mean, I can't help but notice all of those Rolex models with Neptune's Trident for a second hand and a guilloche on the face. It arrived today and I am very impressed. Here it is next to my 2016 model Omega Seamaster Ceramic. Quality-wise I honestly can't tell the difference.
The 38mm will be perfect for my petit fiancee. I'm a fan of the centre polished links as girls love a bit of bling and the dark red ceramic bezel will basically match her diamond and ruby engagement ring which I didn't even consider at the time! Now I've got to wait till April to give it to her. If it keeps good time using that movement then we will both be very happy indeed!

That looks really nice, in fact I prefer it to the Omega! I still think they've spoiled it with the new logo though. The 38mm will be perfect for my petit fiancee. I watched a youtube review and it looks like a proper nice solid expensive watch. Just not 100% sure on the movement but I guess you won't get anything better for the price and quality unless it's a quartz model or you spend over £1.5k on a certified movement.
Sellita were a major OEM supplier to ETA. The movement is out of patent and I would regard a Sellita movement as the equal of an ETA, if not superior.Edited by GC8 on Sunday 12th February 12:10

Yep, agree with you - Sellita made/assembled movements for ETA, so their version is a carbon copy (but with an extra jewel, for reasons I've forgotten).Identical quality - in fact, given they're made on newer machines etc. than ETA, arguably better/crisper made.
As for ETA/Sellita movements, Tag Heuer use a those in their Aquaracer Divers - they just call it 'Calibre 5' and charge three times the price...
ETA isn't inhouse as such, but they're rock-solid, very accurate (when regulated), reliable, proven and cheap to service & repair. I'm mulling over a Tudor Black Bay at present, and for those reasons (and others) it's the older ETA version I'd prefer.
I also have the Christopher Ward Trident C60 and it's phenomenal value - very solid, 600m depth rating, ceramic bezel, ratcheting 'micro-adjust' (tool free) clasp, 5yr warranty - good all round.
I'm also quite impressed by the second hand value they bring on the likes of eBay. I know the price has moved up a bit recently but you can obviously get £100 off simply by signing up to their newsletter, then if you buy when they have a certain % off in a sale you can still get around £3-400 for it after a years use.
Compared to how much you can sink into a TAG/Tudor/Seiko/Omega and expect to get back after a year anyway...
