As others have said, if you want a TUDOR, buy a TUDOR.

If you REALLY want a ROLEX, keep saving.

M.

PS I don't own (or want) either, so no axe to grind here smile

Blue black bay wins hands down, no fake patina as with black and red variants. Two things to note is thickness and lack of date. Make sure you can live with it.

Pelagos looks nice in pictures but not in the flesh in my opinion.

Seems the waiting lists aren't anywhere near as bad as some ADs were making out

My son picked up his no-date Sub from Goldsmiths yesterday - he looks pretty chuffed that the PH collective managed to talk him out of a Tudor.... smile

My opinion?

Tudor > Rolex.

As much as I don't care for the Tudor brand, I would tend to agree in terms of value for money. Very little sets a Rolex apart, and you pay a massive premium to offset the company's marketing costs.

Agreed. I did flinch when stabbing my PIN into the reader, and had the black bay not been too chunky for my wrists, it would have almost certainly gone that way, as I appreciate they are a Tudor, rather than a cheap Rolex. However, they look (in my eyes) too big in all dimensions, which is why I type this with an out-of-budget sub on my wrist.

Man, I'm in this same position.

Everyday reading more and more black bay vs Sub etc, had enough now and need to pull the trigger on either.

I know it shouldn't be a 'VS' scenario, but unfortunatley that is how I have made it.

Edging towards Sub, will post back with a picture of my (long debated) purchase.

If they ever release the BB Bronze in a 40mm-ish size I'd buy one.

The thing with Tudor is that their products are always half baked. Take the divers as an example they are at 80% of what they should be to be worth the price and worth not saving up and going for a Submariner. They haven't got the sparkle I'd expect from a 2.5-3.1k product. And let's be honest the rest of the line up is overpriced garbage.

An in-house, certified chronometer movement is half baked?

About time I uploaded a photo, new and old, for comparison - 40mm sub (which does look very big on my arm) and the 38mm CW

I have 2 words and 1 number for you - Tissot’s Powermatic 80.

I would strongly recommend that you don't buy a Tudor watch. I bought my wife one, and it wasn't cheap. It never kept time well, and she brought it back to the jewelers, three times. Eventually they agreed it wasn't keeping time and charged us £280, saying that we must have damaged it.

Tudors have more class IMO.

Plus, you’ll never get asked if you paid $25 for it off a looky looky man on a beach in Egypt...lol

Lovely very appealing for many reasons , I would be more than happy to own this !

Tudor for me , I just feel I need something a bit more alternative

I think I mentioned this in another thread at the time, but I was really dismayed when Tudor brought Beckham onboard as their "face"

It's odd, I'm not normally influenced by marketing but that kinda irked me.

Irrational, I know!

I'd wager that it wasn't 2 and a half years out...

Quite a forthright opinion for someone with such a username, and your first ever post as well hehe

Never had a problem with the Tudors I've owned, always kept great time, and nicely made.

I've handled a few however I've just the BB36 in the watch box, it's easily one of the accurate mechanical watches I've ever owned.
