Anybody own one of these? Care to share an opinion?

The designs are great, the new 1939 is especially lovely. I understand they're a cheap quartz movement but at $220 one can't complain too much.
In short, I want one and am looking for an excuse.
To be honest the designs don't seem to be fully resolved. Repeating the same number on concentric rings (orange/black one) = pointless. The one in the wrist shot I can't quite understand...may be me being dumb but is that dial even functional? These are fashion items I guess...and that's fine but the watches aren't interesting to me personally.

See, I disagree on the simple 'fashion items' argument. Having read about the guy and what he's doing it seems like there's a bit more substance do the designs than that. I like this idea of style from an era with no fuss wear-everyday usability. The 1939 you mention, its a tachymetre and telemetre which, assuming the chrono hand moves, would be functional. This 1930s AP shows a bit of what he's getting at I guess.

I have an Alpinist which does the same thing...it has a compass on the inner ring which suits the purpose of the watch. I admit I was overly keen to be dismissive of these. The idea of cheap wearable vintage style is good but it's so often done badly I didn't expect to find any merit in them. Having now read the article I'm willing to give them credit for doing what they set out to achieve.
The 1970 Seiko "homage" is an automatic, with a Seiko movement!
