Saw a Speedmaster 'in the flesh' for the first time today; I've wanted one for a while.

I have to say I was a little underwhelmed with it in the flesh. It lacks something that the images give it, possibly size? I'm a bit gutted.

Speedy Pro is the bigger one at 42mm across. The Reduced is 38mm.

The 38mm wears pretty small due to the small area covered by the crystal. 42mm should be big enough for anyone!

When I first got my training contract as a solicitor, I went out and bought the reduced for around £850 I think it was. Sold it for exactly the same money 10 years later. Probably lost on it due to inflation but ho hum.

I recently had the opportunity to get the full sized pro at a reduced priced but passed as I prefer a sub style watch with a rotating bezel.

What's wrong with the size, is it too small? You might want to try the Speedy Pro 9300, 44.25mm without crown but freaking thick as a puck.

I recently bought a panda dial speedy but swapped it for a 45.5mm planet ocean, Omegas wear smaller than case size suggests in my experience a 44.25mm one should do the trick.

Is there such a thing as a non-chrono Speedmaster?

Why would there be? The whole point of the watch is the chronograph.

Get a planet ocean.

I already have a PO smile

I like the non-diver look of the Speedy but don't like chronos.

no, it's a Railmaster.

FWIW, Omega have just announced three 60-year anniversary watches for the Seamaster (2913), Railmaster (2914) and Speedmaster (2915).

That railmaster is a joke. They basically got rid of the bezel and made a new watch out of that.

Or they added a bezel to the Railmaster to make a Seamaster, someone may be able to tell us which one came first.

Not sure if you're serious. They took the Seamaster 300 and removed the bezel.

If you do fancy having two extremely similar-looking watches, and their anniversary Speedmaster as well, Omega are offering 557 box sets of all three of them together, with special caseback engravings and an extra dial signature. Costs GBP £16,000 for that, mind. Not one for me!

Every time I read a speedmaster thread I dig mine out and wear the old girl for a few days.
She`s 40+ only ever had one sevice in the late eighties I think and still keeps very good time.

Classic iconic watches. I've got an old speedie too, it would be my last watch to sell.
