Just a quick scenario and follow up question.

When I set the time to the minute and the seconds hand bang on 12, once the time ticks on 1 minute the seconds hand is always 10 seconds ahead of the minute hand. It doesn't matter if I set the time advancing the minute hand and stopping, or if I move the minute hand beyond and turn back.

I know it's not this particular movement in my DJ, as I've always had this (non) issue with all my 3135 powered watches since I first bought one back in 1995.

What am I doing wrong?

You mean once you push the crown back in the minutes hand looks like it's moved back a bit? That drives me nuts too but you can get it right by slightly advancing it forward. Also as good as SWISS MADE sounds it doesn't mean they are 100% perfect. What I mean by that is that the distance between minute markers isn't always the same that is why you can get it perfect at say quarter past but it will be slightly out at 10 minutes to.

Probably something to do with the gearing in the movement, and slackness there, which means the minute hand doesn't 'set-off' as it quite should, to keep exact pace with the second hand.

However, the normal advice to combat that is by advancing the minute hand a bit past the time you want, and then reversing backwards to the correct time, thereby taking-up the slack - but you're already doing that, so it's not much help.

Probably just one of those foibles of miniature mechanics - even top-quality examples - and needs someone more technically-minded than me (i.e. just about anyone) to advise better.

Some movements are just quirky - it's in a different league to the 3135 I know, but my Sistem51 minute hand steadfastly refuses to move for near the first minute after setting. It's not just mine either, I've read the same with others.

Perhaps go past the minute marker you need and reverse back a bit (like you're already doing), but stay just a tad in advance of where you want to be, so hopefully the minute hand eventually gets into sync a little better?
