I remember trying one on and thinking that, if they couldn’t a deal, I would find a way to buy it. And then I read about the short hands and they bugged me too much. An expensive child entered our lives and that was it for several years..!

The only Rolex I really like even now.

Enjoy..!
Thank you, I have it about 13 years now, I don't wear it all the time,, but it still keeps perfect time.

I suspect some day the short hand version will be the one to have as it will be rarer and nobody wanted it at the time. It doesn't really matter to me though as I hope to pass it on to my son when it's time for me to push up daisies.

I lose track of when they lengthened the hands and when they swapped to lumed markers, and whether or not the changes were separate / overlapped - I didn't mind the short hands TBH, I had a copy of that version that was reasonably good and found it to be incredibly versatile in terms of dressing up or dressing down!

As above, probably one of the few Rolexes I'd actually buy if I had the money - the rest seem so blingy now!

Full metal jacket AE1200 today.

Tempted to build another with polished centre links and brushed case.
This will surely survive nuclear armageddon biggrin lol
It won't, the 1st EMP strike will see it dead. Whereas a solid gold manual wind dress watch will keep ticking.

... on the wrist of the savage that just chopped your lower arm off with a machete to get hold of it? tongue out

6119R?
Not that modern - 3919
I didn’t think it looked quite right! The 3919 is the ‘inspiration’ for the 6119, of course.

Wow!! That’s a lovely dial. Can I ask the model number?
Of course - SARX055. There was a steel version after this, not sure of the number, but it'll likely come up from a googling.
Thank you, that’s great thumbup

38mm Oris BC Cervo Volante. Ironically given the collaboration I bought it despite the strap - the pale brown doesn’t suite the dial so well in my opinion and it’s the dial on this that really spoke to me - that green fading to near black… now on chocolate leather it’s near perfect.

Considering I don't have a massive desire for any new watches (ex the new Day Date), an older model seems to hit the right spot.

Not a big fan of Rolex personally but that's stunning - awesome patina!
