Thanks, I've passed these messages on to him.
This is his car... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285809155007
He says the guy has offered £1,800 + the watch. He has 837 positive feedback on eBay.
From the images, the watch looks to be a reasonably nice 16013 Datejust. A quick check with an experienced dealer will confirm that the watch is correct, check with the Watch Register wouldnt hurt either. The images show the watch in a later/current type box with the correct COSC chronometer cert/warranty paperwork. Again, a quick check by an experienced dealer will conform the authenticty. I'd be happy to do so.This is his car... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285809155007

I've no idea of 987 values. If we assume the car is worth £6895 as listed. The deal as offered, the watch and £1800 is going to leave the seller with a notable downside. As a dealer we would struggle to realise anymore than £4000 or so when selling. A private seller or selling to the trade will realise less. If the car is worth £6895, then £3000 as the cost to change would be more like it.
From the images, the watch watch looks to be in good used condition with wear consistent with a nicely looked after 40 year old watch. This is not a model that superclone producers tend to bother with as the market perfers buying copies of late/current models.
A quick enquiry to Watchfinder to see what they would pay for a good 1985 Datejust 16013, would affirm the trade value. With a little help from experienced buyers to confirm the validity of the watch, it's straightforward enough to complete. As this would be a direct sale, the watch would not go through the ebay authentication process, so would be sold/bought as seen.
You're welcome to call if you'd like anymore help.
Cheers

Of course you’d want to get it authenticated, but on face value of the deal proposed I think you’re bang on.
