I've never treated myself to a watch, so....

How much do you reckon? it says POA.
Well as he's asking £2500 for one very very similar to mine I'd say his prices are a little steep anyway I'd guess at £3500ish but I'd put that at about double what it's actually worth, the Carrera he's got at £850 I only paid £175 for, but that was before old Heuer prices went silly.
These boys have TAG's first re-release which is just labelled Heuer for £2450.

Errr No and No.
But they both have enough contact details on the sites for some door banging if you get stung, and your link even has a sort of shop in York so that looks pretty above board to me, if in doubt give them a call or go to York.....and the Autavia he has in stock is very tempting
I think I'd want to check them out in person, a little bit to much money to trust over the internet.

Now that makes HeuerBoy look cheap, his is less than 1/2 that.
It is a more desirable face but it just goes to show that the prices are really guesses by just about everyone, even the dealers don't seem to have a fixed price list for pre-owned watches.
I bought a new Tag after one of these threads a few months ago
It went back after a couple of weeks as the automatic movement wasn't winding the watch, and each morning I found it had stopped. After 3 weeks(!) away, the verdict (from the retailer) was "nothing wrong, it must be that you don't move enough. Try winding it manually every night". Now maybe I'm wrong but I wasn't expecting them to tell me it was my fault!
Since then it seems to be even worse, if I forget to wind it then it will not last the night.
Here's a challenge for you; see if you can find a number or an email address for customer service on the TH website - they leave this to the retailers I think.

I had exactly the same problem with my Carrera over the first month or so. Took it off at night and it would stop after about 3 hours of no movement. Was going to take it in for a service but started working in a kitchen where I was moving around a bit more and its been fine ever since.
I've got thin wrists but the Tag with leather strap seems to look ok where as I tried one when buying with a metal strap and it really brought out the size of the thing.
This maybe a stupid question but does anyone find that that the mechanism is quite loud on the carrera?

I too, have the small wrist. I am wearing the Rolex Oyster Perpetual (mid-size) at the moment. It's around 30mm diameter. I've just tried a Patek Philippe 3802 Calatrava - beautiful. 32mm in diameter, and a steal for just under £10k. The Patek people have been going for around 170 years and have still to make as many watches as Rolex make in a single year.

"Rolex Oyster Perpetual"
I like the sound of that, I might just get one...

Roughly, how many watches do Rolex make in a year?

for the price of a new carrera you buy a real 60's one, not a modern one.
And it would be so much cooler

I've got one very similar to the first Carrera on the page, only problem is it is a very thick watch, about 15mm front to back, so would look a little silly on a thin wrist.
But some of the other models are a little lighter, a much better option than a new TAG, if it's possible to get these over in Dubai
Thank you very much for that link - I'm seriously looking for an original Carrera ... only a minor thing like a house purchase stands in my way ...

Thanks.
Have to say that I had more like 1K in mind than £1600 ...
That other site you've linked, although I haven't bought from them butI have exchanged mails with them and they certainly respond to emails promptly - I suspect that they sell very little over the web, and so their site isn't a priority for them.
Have you considered Sinn watches? I have purchased one of these boys recently
a Sinn 144 GMT Ti (also available in steel). You can also get them with a leather strap rather than the bracelet. In the end I bought both types of strap and its a doddle to swap them over. Nicely in your price range. You can look at the range of Sinn watches on www.sinnstore.com but you can't buy from there as its a Spanish site and they will only ship to Spanish addresses.

I like Sinns. They've a pleasing austere functionalality to them. (Well, they are German.)
Here's a site that specialises in German watches: www.watchbuys.com The Rainer Brand chronograph is nice, I think: www.rainerbrand.de/e/collection/kerala.htm
Also: www.glashuette-original.com/

The carerra was fecking massive when I tried it on my fairly dainty wrists.
So I brought a Monza instead.
Make sure you try before you buy else you may be a bit pissed off with a grandfather clock on your wrist...

I know what you mean. I like a simple watch and really like this
but also have thin wrists and its 1cm thick so looks huge

Titanium with sapphire crystal glass, so they very light compared to any steel watch and pretty hard to scratch.
Not sure about the white dial on this one.

They don't publicise it, but its thought to be about 750,000/year.
