Yes they did - and you've, rather embarassingly I'd imagine, cocked up your links and put one up of a disgusting twirling rubix cube of a watch. I feel your shame

Since when was anything being pretty a prerequisite for it to be cool?

Dunno. Why'd you buy a Porsche Turbo instead of a Ford Fiesta?

Cos it's faster. If my more expensive watch was faster I'd be slightly pissed.

Because you can get tail out in a Porsche, it's more enjoyable to drive, it's faster, it's quicker, and it holds its value better.

Cartier - Cos I'm worth it!

Actually it was a gift from my wife 15 years ago, when she still loved me.

Vanity? Insecurity? Delusional tendancies? Appreciation of craftsmanship, style and elegance?

Dunno mate, haven't worn a watch for about 8 years. I do know that you certainly don't need to wear a watch to know what the time is. So I guess that watches are just jewellery and therefore this question is equally applicable to women who wear expensive ear-rings, necklaces etc...

I just like looking at it, thinking about the 100+ little components inside it whirring round in perfect harmony.

Also, the look of surprise on people's faces when you pass it to them to have a look, and they realise just how heavy that much stainless steel is!

I didn't buy this, it was my 21st birthday present, but i did choose it. I had a choice, i could get a reasonably expensive watch (~£200) from my parents and other presents from the rest of my family, or everyone could chip in and get me a more expensive watch. I chose the latter option because i wanted something which would remain special, not something which i would be able to afford easily once i finish uni and get a proper job. I particularly liked the mechanical movement, as i prefer engineering over electronics, even if it is less accurate.

A frequently made mistake.

I am quite a scruff most of the time. And Srebbe on here owns more companies than I have watches, and he wears a 15year old Casio.
