i have a chronfighter oversize, its just different, and far better to be different than follow the rest of the sheep who buy rolex etc,its a nice chunky watch , and i guess those who poo poo it are just jealous
While it has been pointed out that beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder, there are plenty of beautiful watches for under £3k which are far from mainstream and rather less challenging than the Grahams. As for jealousy, I have a feeling that on this forum at least it is rather the opposite... Just because someone doesn't like something you have, it doesn't automatically mean they are jealous of it - there's every chance they just don't like it.All a bit harsh on Graham i feel. Check this out:

Elegant yet unique. They also do some nice limited editions in this collection.
As for the connection to George Graham, I will confess that after he left Arsenal I had no time for him.

As has been mentioned - this is a forum that if you want to illustrate 'your' taste in watches, then be prepared to take a hit once in a while but please don't think it is envy. That's why I like this forum especialy. Lots of people with lots of different tastes, budgets and the watches they own. I've also learnt a fair bit from others about brands I'd never heard of.
Personaly, I don't get Graham, or Pans for that matter, so I've never looked into them and couldn't rate them on quality, how they wear etc...

oh by the way price was under 3k brand new
TBH I think the reason they look so different to other watches is because they look horrible. Really horrible and hugely overpriced.oh by the way price was under 3k brand new
Why would someone be jealous? Does it take some kind of skill to go and buy one? I don't think so.

I've just taken a look at these and i'm inclined to agree with you. They're different for sure, but equally, they're ugly bordering on vile imo. Sadly, i'm not in the least bit jealous with my boring, but more expensive ordinary watches.oh by the way price was under 3k brand new
I'm happy to respect your buying decisions, it would be nice if you perhaps afforded others the same courtesy. Manners and courtesy cost nothing btw.

I knew it is a VJ7750 modified watch. <cut> I am one happy ower of Graham.
Enjoy it. Nothing wrong with modified ETA movements - *very* *very* few manufactures make all their movements inhouse - most start with ETA ébauches and go from there. Panerai only just started having a go at their own movement, and Breitling are all ETA - all of which sell for similar or more money. Just because the base ébauche came from ETA doesn't mean that the rest of the movement isn't hugely improved. Equally, there's nothing to stop a brand bunging in the middle grade ETA movement, polish up the visible bits, put their name on the rotor and do nothing else.... which is where you have to do your research. ETA movements are good movements, but IMO once you get into the £2k+ territory you need some additional magic.Now.... onto this...

WTF? Gravity resistant escapement? Who did Zenith's translation for them? The EP movement is legendary but last time I checked, it didn't have zero mass and consequently zero energy. Sorry to be a physics pedant, but claiming your watch movement is resistant to gravity is not just strange, it's absurd. Unless it's made out of some exotic matter that violates all our known physics, that escapement sure as hell *is* affected by gravity. Stick it in a BIG gravitational well (near the event horizon of a small black hole, for example) and watch that escapement stretch Hell, even TIME ITSELF is affected by gravity. That being said, I can't see any physics professor approaching the ASA about Zenith's advertising, even I wouldn't bother writing Zenith a letter just for a laugh
Bit of a shame IMO, Zenith have lost their way a bit - they have a jewel of a movement, and they've produced some really vile-looking pieces and some idiotic nonsense like 'gravity resistant' escapements, etc.

I've just started my collection, have picked up a Chronofighter Oversize Diver, Deep Seal, I got it for £400, have i made a good purchase, should I keep it or turn it for profit ? I really want an IWC Portofino any advice on this ?? cheers
If you can turn if for a profit, I would do it as soon as possible. I think that the majority concensus around these parts is that Graham isn't worth a lot on the resale market. If you can flip quick go for it and go get that IWC. I love my Portuguese and would highly recommend IWC. Great build and finish. jacksbane said:

Personally £400.00 is way to much let alone £5,000.00. They look like a child's watch that was bought in Toys R Us that turns into a transformer. In fact if I saw a bloke that was of voting age with one of them on I would question his manhood.
