Been offered one at cost.

Love the whole Max Bill design movement (Bauhaus / Corbusier etc) so i love the simplistic minimalist look of the watch. Not a rare / expensive bird by any means but hell i quite like it!!! !! never noticed one of these before.

Thoughts or experiences ?

I think this is a fabulous, timeless design - really, really appealing. I particularly like the buttons for the chronograph - they're just right for the watch.

I say go for it, especially if you're getting a bargain!

That's interesting - I stumbled across this brand a few weeks ago in a posh jewellers while I was getting the missus a pearl necklace (fnar) and was quite taken by the designs and also they seemed to be good value.

What movements do they use?

More info here

Seems like there are some nice designs. I like this one

The one you've selected looks especially fine. The dial is so clear and the main hands are distinctly broader than those of the subdials. Nice buttons too yes

The company is now owned by Diehl, based in Nuremberg & if you know that right people can be bought at well below list. They aren't 2nds, just unsold/bankrupt stock.

I bought a Mega for daily use that way & it's boringly reliable. I'd love 1 of the Max Bills.

Here's their home page

VJ7750 like everyone else, presumably. I really like that design though.

Junghans were the guys who first popularised atomic-clock-radio watches weren't they? I seem to recall they made gadget-tastic clocks that got sold via Innovations magazine freebie pullouts, etc.

Anyone got a URL for the 'right people' to obtain these watches at a good price? I really like that design and don't have anything like it - even thought it's just another VJ7750, with a really nice strap it'd be a good 'dress' chrono to wear...

ETA - Chronomaster have them at £895. Anyone know if they're available materially cheaper than that? A steel, acrylic crystalled watch with a snap-on back and a base VJ7750 shouldn't cost this much, especially on a strap rather than a bracelet... however I rather like this and it's also a sensible size (40mm diameter ex crown).

ETA2 - The pusher design reminded me a bit of the IWC portuguese - much as I'd prefer the Portuguese as it's going to have a nicer movement in it, it is made to look fussy by the Max Bill, for example:

Bear in mind that Junghans is 1 of the older watch marques in Germany & that you do pay for the name as a result.

1861 was when the company was set up & the 1st watch was made 5 years later.

I was looking at this Junghans the other day, a little less classy but I like it. Can't find any second hand though (and only a few new at £800).

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but after deliberating between a Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope and a Nomos Tangente, I think I've finally settled on the former.
Bobo - did you get the watch in the end? Do you mind me asking what was 'cost price'?
Any other tips to get one substantially cheaper than chromomaster (now £995)?

TIA

Just got my max bill chronoscope for christmas...superb looking watch and have been looking forward to it for months!
i remember my first thoughts were..."damn, hope it doesnt scratch!"
guess what happens the first day i wear it...horrid 4mm scratch that shows up as a shadow on the face of the watch! It caught the edge of my kitchen worktop as i walked out of the kitchen that eve.
i've noticed the watch touch the bottom of tables/desks as well...all my other watches (omega/rolex) are all sapphire face so haven't worried about scratches for a looooong time!
Anyone else have this experience?
Is there any way to polish out the scratches?

It depends.

What material is it? saphire crystal nope but if its 'plastic' then there is a product called pollywatch that will removed it very easily.

in that case

you can get polywatch from here. second option down

http://www.rltwatches.co.uk/acatalog/Tools.html

I recntly used it on a 30 year old watch and it came up like new, I just put some on a cloth and sat there watching telly for 10-15 minutes rubbing with my thumb.

I have read people use autosol and brasso with the same results.

And yes get those pics up

ps

no inuendo please, the watch I was rubbing the watch

The Junghans WorldTimer looks very 'Glashutte Panomatic', but without the huge price tag ... Nice smile
