Rolex hologram sticker on back of watch
Discussion
I have a Rolex Submariner 16610 which i bought 6 years ago (2003 model)and it has the green Rolex hologram on the back. i have seen various used Rolex watches advertised over the years on places such as ebay(!) which do not have the hologram and i just wondered if people tend to remove the sticker or if this is a sign the watches are probably fake? I would prefer to have the watch with no hologram on the back but i always figured that trying to take it off may leave a residue of glue as it is very well stuck on - and has shown no signs of coming off despite being worn every day since i got it.
Just one of those little things which I have wondered about for a few years, i probably need to get out more....

I have a Daytona but the hologram started to look a bit tatty and faded (wear it every day), so I took it off.Just one of those little things which I have wondered about for a few years, i probably need to get out more....
No residue left when taken off. Fakes have holograms now anyway - I still have all the orignal paperwork and receipts for the watch
which can be checked should I ever sell it.
You can fake the paperwork, but I suspect a quick call to the original main dealer would confirm the watch was genuine (or likely to be - I suppose you would get a fake watch and sell it with your papers?? )
Maybe its just the Daytona then - mine was new this year and didn't have one, Dominic H also supplied one for a friend of mine a couple of months ago also without the hologram.

Rolex do not put the green hologram on their watches anymore - theink they removed it from circa beginning of 2007.
My Sea Dweller purchased from a reputable jeweller in July this year had the sticker.digger_R said:
My SD purchased a couple of weeks ago didn't have a hologram or a sticker with the model number on, it also came with the credit card sized 'certificate'.
hmmnn mine came with the credit card service/warranty pack but has the sticker and it's a Z serial number which I think was one before the last. I love pistonheads
I googled "green bit on back of rolex" and up popped this 8 year old thread (back when i had only a PHer for 2-3 years or so...)
so for anyone that wants to know, as of 2016, new rolexes don't have a hologram on the back, but they do have a bit of peelable plastic that protects it from scratches.

Stickers of any sort, on anything, annoy the piss put of me. I always peel them off straight away.
I wear my watches most days irrespective of what I'm doing, or what I'm working on, so a keeping a sticker on a watch for some kind of minuscule value retention is pointless. Same as a guy I know who came to pour all the concrete floors in my new house the other day, he has a Rolex Day-Date which he wears every single day, splattering it in concrete He isn't concerned in the slightest.
