That IS a Monster!
Discussion
Received my TO213 "Monster Watch" from Nick at Werners yesterday, so I thought I'd better put up the obligatory pics.
This feeds my currently-unattainable desire for a U-Boat.
That's a full-sized £2 coin for comparison!
And the wrist shot:
I have a black leather/white stitching strap on order for it, see what that looks like.
Still getting used to the size of it on my arm! Thanks to Nick for the discount and the swift turn-around.

I was expecting MUCH bigger numbers than that (and not on the dial ). Really like that, although I'm not sure whether it looks TOO big...?
Yes, I'm with you on the "too big" thing - Nick at Werners did warn me before I bought it: "you do know how big this is, don't you?" but if you're going to be different then may as well go the whole hog! Should say for anyone thinking about it, I'm 6'4" and in proportion,so my wrists are bigger then usual. I can only do this up on the first hole on the strap, and the black one I ordered just arrived and it's no bigger, so I'll be sending that back for an XL.You're much more aware of having it on your wrist than a regular watch, but today's the first day so I'm sure I'll get used to it.

lovely looking watch
57mm!
The only thing that irritates me about these watches is the strap being proportionally smaller. The 45mm versions have 20mm wide straps. I am guessing yours has a 22mm strap? Oh, the other thing is the location of the date window because the movement is no bigger than one used on a 45mm watch.

Or you could try this: http://www.straps4watches.co.uk/24mm-heavy-duty-di...
26mm at its widest point but fits 24mm.

Wristclocks.
If you're big enough to wear something like that then you *really* should be seeking out a watch made with a vintage pocket-watch movement... there are a few about with full-on observatory-grade competition chronometer movements in - like this

a watch that big I would have expected the date to be bigger
The problem is they're using the exact same internals irrespective of the model. That's why the date appears half way between the centre and the edge of the face. They're all Chinese cases with Chinese movements. If we're lucky, the "Made in Germany" bit is because they put the straps on in Germany. For the price, you can't really complain; that said, can you name a quality (read: well-built rather than over-priced) product made in Italy? Edited by ShadownINja on Saturday 8th August 15:17

Also, some rather decent automotive engineering comes out of Italy. Expensive for the most part, but especially the engines tend to be rather good

Anonimo have a great reputation, being the old Panerai employees before they were turned into a modern watch which (ducks below parapet) frankly I don't like all that much. Talk to Tertius about Anonimo - he'll tell you the same. Now I know Panerai have a big following here and apparently they are very tough (which is why I'm ducking) too so I can't accept the corollary with cars that have five reverse and one forward gear of which I do have experience and not a good one - I'll never buy another Ferrari in my lifetime. Oh, and U boats; weren't they mostly non waterproof and sunk?
