I have this one:
http://www.tiktox.com/mtg10001v-p-2459.php

Great watch but the relatively small face (i.e.: the crystal) makes for fairly "small" presence on the wrist (if anyone was considering one that is).

BTW: I have a Riseman that I am not overly bonding with - if anyone has an interesting alt G-Shock they fancy swapping let me know.

Thanks, I like that. Specifically want a G-Shock for the rufty-tufftiness of it though.

Quite fancy this one:

Only seventy five quids too - so at least one of my children can have shoes to go back to school in as well.

While not strictly a G-Shock, I'm close to ordering one of these off eBay. Anybody know if it'll do the job of a cheap G-Shock. I'm not planning on jumping off cliffs but I'm after a cheap weekend knockabout.

Saying it's "not strictly a G-shock" is incorrect... the correct wording is "It's not a G-Shock" wink

Will it do the job of a G-shock? Well it will tell the time, but other than that it's just a watch made by the same company, and that company don't class it as a "G-Shock" themselves so that alone should answer your question. Simple answer... no it won't. You would break that far easier than you could even mark a G-shock.

Here's a thing for you... if your wearing a G-Shock and you hit your arm hard enough to actually break the watch don't worry about it... your wrist will probably be broken too so the watch is the least of your worries (sounds extreme but they really are THAT tough and shock resitant).

yikes Right, so a "proper" G-Shock it will have to be then. Checking on Fleabay as you read this.
Cheers!

I have two; an orange-faced Cockpit series and a blacky placcy WaveCeptor.

It's too orangey for crows:

Ugly as sin, but utterly practical (and very comfortable):

Anyone who thinks a G-shock is Porn, has some very "specialist" tastes & I wouldn't want to see their internet history.

Tough as old boots yes, but utterly fugly.

I would rather look at a page full of rare G-shock's than some of the cheaper generic german stuff featured on here usually that everyone seems to go frakin gaga over.

Each to their own and all that smile

I think those poor man's Swiss watches and these G-shocks both have their place. I mean, it'd look strange wearing a G-shock with a smart suit in a meeting, much like wearing hiking boots with your suit. But similarly, when you're summiting Everest or flying through a forest on your mountain bike, you don't want a delicate thing on your wrist nor would you wear smart, polished shoes! Besides, scratches on a G-shock look cool. You might even call it wabi. Scratches on a dress watch just look painful.

I mean, I like looking at my main G-shock cos it (with its scratches and dents) reminds me of the fun times I've had dangling from a 0.8mm thick rope with cuts and grazes on my elbows, forearms pumped, hands sweaty with fear but I also like looking at my Aeromatic because it is delicate and pretty.

Ok, I've probably thought about this too much. They're watches, like what you like. thumbup

I hear exactly where you coming from and I'm glad we are all different (especially if it means I don't have to waste my money of "one of them" wink )

Anyway, going off topic so here's a random G-shock smile

Get it bought.

Although I must say I didn't pay anywhere near that much for mine (from Amazon).

They are bug eyed abominations and that's the attraction for me.

Gets more wrist time than my Rolexes, Sinns or Omegas.
