I have been a long time lurker for a while, have a dozen or so watches of varying makes (nothing expensive I am afraid.)
I have looking to purchase a Seiko Monster with s/s strap, orange face, auto movement and if possible glass back.
Does anybody know of any shops in the North East which have Monsters in stock so I can have a look?
Saw a few on fleabay but would rather goto a shop to buy.

Cheers

If you find a retailer and try one on, it would seem to be worthwhile having a look at online retailers to actually buy.

BBB, I'm another long time lurker. Coincidentally, my Seiko Black Monster arrived in the post today. I bought it on ebay from rkwatchhouse after seeing them recommended on this forum. I don't think its officially imported to the UK so you might struggle to find one in a shop. If it helps, I've got quite skinny wrists and the watch does not look as big on the wrist as the dimensions would lead you to believe. Cracking quality for the money too. Hope this helps.

I have big wrists, I recently bought a Seiko Arctura kinetic and did not have to take any links out, would not mind buying online as long as I could "try one on first."
Most dealers in Middlesbrough do not carry the monster range, so am prepared to travel further afield if necessary.

The chances of finding a Monster in the UK are close to nil...The best place is online or look on the watch forums especially the SCWF. Chronograph.com are also a good bet and deliveries from them usually get to the UK in 3-4 days.

As for a glass ( display ) back ....you can fit one but they're only rated at 50m and will also make the watch sit a lot higher as they're quite thick.

Having got hld of a Monster there are lots of modding options ...the case & bracelet can be beadblasted, dial & hands changed .......

The reason I have been looking at monsters as I am a rough bugger with watches, I thought this may last longer than the other watches I have tried lately (rotary x3, accurist x2 )

And when you are ready for your next watch you will have to buy online as the shops will have closed.

I do not mind paying a premium by buying from a shop, it is easier to have somewhere to take a watch back to when something goes wrong, if what I want is not available then I will have to buy online..

You won't find a Monster in any shop in the UK, but there are a few on line retailers well recommended here, such as Just Seiko, rkwatchhouse and Creation watches. As for taking the rough and tumble of daily life, I reckon a Monster will probably outlast you. Best value for money watcy I have ever had.

I have finally got one courtesy of JustSeiko.
I travelled to him rather than getting it posted to see if it fitted etc..
4 hours and 140 mile round trip I am a happy bunny :-)

Did you go Orange or Black, Bracelet or Rubber ?

I think everyone should post their Monsters and see how many PH'ers have them. Target is 25 !

Off you go ....

I do like those night monsters!
How has the coating worn on yours? I was put off by the fact I could image it wearing out in places fairly quickly.
