It's a bit blingy (loooks like a Breitling), but currently reduced to £49.99 in Argos (started off at over £100, but has been steadily reduced). Seems like a decent watch - I'm tempted to get one just to Fleabay it if I don't like it:

Perosnally, I would avoid anything that looks too much like it's trying to be something else, this one included. Anyone who can recognise a Navitimer will know that's not a Navitimer.

If you look here you'll find what you are looking for. Seiko, one of the best makers in the world, and not dear.
Yes, although Grand Seikos can give a Rolex Daytona a run for its money: both in terms of quality and price!

Gah...

I got the Casio (which I'm pretty happy with smile) but still got an itch for one of these Seiko 5...

I've seen a few on Fleabay but could you or anyone else recommend any seller in particular?

I just bought one of these and have reviewed it on another thread. Its now 3 weeks old and remains reasonably accurate having gained 25 seconds in that time. Excellent value for an auto, but I wouldnt go swimming in it.

Some folk get a bit funny because it is very similar to an Omega Planet Ocean. Ignore them many Seikos are very similar to Rolex Submariners but the same people say Seiko's are fine.

It's alot of watch for the money

I got the Seiko 5 as has been mentioned time and time again. I got the 'desert' colour which may not be to everyones taste but I just liked it.

I love the movement, the 'flat' silver case, the display back, the stap feels natural, you forget you are wearing a watch. Exactly what I was looking for.

Not put on any of my other watches since I got it.

You'll love it.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but i've seen this Seiko 5 on fleabay and wanted to find out if it is worth taking a punt on it as it is from Hong Kong. Seller has 100% feedback, but im wandering if the watch is genuine...Any thoughts from anyone?

Personally, I think you will be OK. Mine was off eBay and is definately the genuine article. I have never seen them for sale in the UK in this guise.

Worth a punt. If it is all legit and you go for it, the are a lovely watch. As mentioned earlier, I have the 'desert' colour and it is stunning (in my opinion).

Yep, looks like its worth a punt, theres three positive feedback for that item, and paying by Paypal will give you some protection (although obviously the hassle of returning it to HK).

Here's mine, I'm wearing it today. As you can tell by the time on the watch and the time of my post, it took a while to work out how to post pictures from my iPhone!

For your information, my wrists are skinny so it may look a little smaller on a normal sized wrist.

I have one of those, slightly modified. 'Amerika' leather strap by Fluco and I gave the case a light polish with some Solvol.

Bear in mind that this represents about 0.00001% of the population. Whoare you trying to impress?

If you like it - buy it. I can't abide watch snobbery.

I'm not trying to impress anyone. The person who buys that watch is though.

Interesting. The 'flat silver' of the case was one of my favourite features of the watch but I must say, that looks very good indeed!

Damn you all (again!)... Now I am going to have to explain to the OH why I have bought yet another watch...

Trouble is I can't decide between the Desert/sand coloured one and the blue...
