The K&S Chinese watch needs a turn or two in the manual winder every night (10-11pm), otherwise it will stop at about 2-4am.
Hmm. I'm finding it stopping at approx 3:20 am every night regardless of if I wind it at night or not. All I've been doing recently is setting the time and away it goes. Haven't wound it manually for a few days now and it's still going...

What's the battery life like on watches like that? I know LEDs are pretty low power but even so, I can't imagine the battery life being measured in anything longer than a few days.

Or am I completely off and they last for ages? smile
They're normally off until you push a button to light them up. Of course that means you can't just glance at your watch to tell the time but it's a small price to pay for awesomeness. (Or not, whatever tongue out )

I've got a cheap binary watch a year ago and it's still going although I haven't worn it every day.

I will post an update when it hopefully arrives in a month...
Good find! My rather pricey £18 automatic is still going well despite getting stuck at 3:20am every day smile

Btw... has anyone got any recommendation for a watch for running? Pedometer, heart rate, GPS (perhaps not new, but a few used ones on ebay are within budget), etc. etc.

Anyone taken a punt on this thing? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FITNESS-PULSE-HEART-RATE...

I use the Polar FT7 with HR strap. Doesn't have GPS but is great for HR training and as I use my phone when running I can use a gps app like endomondo.

FT7 is HIGHLY recommended
Is that a (live?) graph I see on there?

I've got one but never worn it. It's much thicker than I thought it would be and feels just plain nasty. The catch is impossible to do without another person helping you and equally impossible to undo without a flat blade screwdriver.

Not sure I've ever cursed at a watch before but if I did it would be this one.
Can't say I 100% agree with that - yes it's not the last word in quality (not what sort of 'metal/alloy' is being used used) - the catch does seem a bit odd at first but it's possible to take it on/off yourself with practice.

Probably not worth much more than £10, if you like the look of it £5 is probably worth a punt smile

Mr Techmoan approves of our favourite Seiko...

Although that particular Seiko 5 is a bit above budget, alas.

Thread bump.

I used to enjoy the posts here; anything new to see?
Sadly I've betrayed everyone and got a £100 Pebble last month, which is now my favourite watch weeping Didn't think there are any alternatives for under 50 short of going for a tatty second hand Pebble?

Although I'm wearing my original Seiko 5 today if that helps smile

Looks great smile How's the strap on it?

Not normally a fan of rubber straps, although the polyurethane strap on my pebble seems ok, think it's possible to replace it but not something I've actually tried on any watch paperbag

Sorry I wasn't referring to the subdials, I was referring to the large main dials. The inner of those appears to be labelled 24hrs but I'm guessing the main watch isn't a 24hr hour hand.
Oh, haha, didn't even notice that, the dial is so fking busy. nuts
I don't care biggrin
It's less than £15 biggrin
It's an automatic biggrin
100% Nickel Stainless steel bracelet and black dial biggrin

weight is good

Casting marks on the outside of the lugs

underside of the bracelet is a scabby mess.

and the hours sub dial is an hour out of line.
Been away for a week so only just got it now.

It's quite big - much bigger than a Seiko 5 and to the right is a similarly huge £15 Chinese automatic that was posted here a while ago.

I'm probably judging it as a £15 watch but tbh I can't fault the construction/finish really. Apart from the dials making no sense (0-1000 outer and 0-24 inner??) and the bottom dial which I can't figure out what it does? confusedhehe

ETA for less crap photo

hehe At least it's got 12 hour markers on it, unlike the '0-1000' watch above (which I'm still wearing tongue out)

Was ordering stuff from Amazon anyway so thought I'd take a punt as it's so cheap hehe could be ste but don't have a skeleton watch yet...

Feel free to post better quality watches wink anyone wearing a favourite sub-£50 watch at the moment?
