Apologies for yet another "what watch thread" - they are getting a bit regualr in here but I could do with some recomendations.

Budget is probabaly £300 or maybe a little bit more.

I currently own an Accurist diver style thingy, an Armani rectangular faced type dress type watch thingy, and a G-shock.

This time i'm looking for something on a metal bracelet - either silver or black. I like quite a busy dial so chrono would be good but not essentail for the right watch.

I like Tag and Omega styling but can't afford it, although some of the brietlings are a little too busy.

I keep being drawn to a Seiko Monster - i don't particularly like the standard ones but do like both the purple night monster and the orange night monster. (sk007 and sk001?)

The only reason i'm not convinced by one is that i have quite skinny wrists so am concerned that they may be a little too big - plus the inability to try one on in the uk or even see / feel one.

So ladies and gentlemen - what am I missing?

Cheers

Dan

As far as busy dials go, have you had a look at the Citizen Eco Drive range? The majority of them are loaded with features (Mine had chronograph, perpetual date, dual-time and alarm, amongst other things!) and feel well made smile The Eco Drive system utilizes solar energy to recharge the batteries, as well as temporarily stopping the movement of the second hand when in darkness - Pretty cool, as when you move into a light source, the second hand spins around to the correct time. smile

I believe the Seiko Monster is an automatic watch (Are they all automatic?), which might swing in favour. Otherwise I wouldn't discount Citizen!

Do like a couple of those Christopher Ward ones - are they only available online or can you buy in store?

Are they well regarded?

I got a second hand (in excellent condition) TAG Heuer F1 for less than that. I think a Chrono may be in budget if you look around.

Not adverse to 2nd hand at all.

Would be alittle uncertain buying from ebay due to the fakes but if anyone can reccomend a decent source?

If you buy from a UK seller, with box, papers, etc. no reason that it won't be real. Although people who are scared of fakes keep the prices down for those like me who are willing to have a punt. Only ever had one fake which was in a multi-batch of broken watches. Raised a dispute with ebay and the seller had to refund me for the whole lot.

That's 3 watches you already own and you are going to spend up to another £300. In total that's around £8-900 in watches.

As you have said you like Tag and Omega styling, how about not buying any more watches that aren't satisfying your desire and put the money aside and keep saving until you can afford the one you really want.

I only have 1 watch, a Rolex Submariner, it's all I have ever wanted and I just saved until I had enough cash to buy it.

If you like lots of different watches then by al means carry on, but I thought I'd just throw this into the ring.

Oh no, please don't get me mentally adding up the cost of all of my watches in my head. I'd be able to afford two of my grail watch if I sold them all (for the price I bought them!). I think eventually I could get down to around ten. For now 43 will have to do!

He may have a point...... but..... hmmm

Oh just remebered that i have one of those fashion watches as well - a diesel digital one. So theres another 100 quid to the pot.

Ooops.

BUT i do like wearing numerous watches, depending on what i'm doing / where i'm going etc. I wear the Armani when i'm out dressed reasonably smartish, the Diesel when out in the pub, or sometime the g shock, the accurist i havn't worn for ages - i got it for my 18th, but it used to be a daily wear.

I'd probabaly like to wear what ever i buy as a daily thing.

So curretly i'm now considering a monster - def a night one - as i want the black strap.

Now i'm also considering a Christopher Ward, as they look good - but not sure of the brand?

And now also a second hand something or other.......

Bought my BiL the black faced, black leather strap version of this Christopher Ward watch for Xmas http://www.christopherward.co.uk/men/sport/c7/c7ss... Looks very nice, you can get it with a black face if you prefer. You'll get 10% off if you use code XMAS10 at the checkout.

I am looking into new watch purchase as well! I am under the impression that Christopher Ward is well regarded. If you type his name and forum into google you will see that he has a loyal following. I have considered a couple of their watches. Again, I also want a Seiko Monster because they seem to offer so much for a little over £100.

Would ultimately love an Omega Seamaster, have the cash to buy a quartz, but am thinking about buying a couple of cheaper watches, and using the rest of the cash on home improvemnets (boring I know). Could use the next few months to try and save up for an automatic Seamaster (which I suppose is ultimately the one I would want).

I've got a Christopher Ward C8, got it for crimbo last year and it's still mint and keeping excellent time.

I love the British twist he's put on the traditional Fleiger style watch - An RAF roundel on the second hand, and an engraving of a Spitfire wing blueprint on the caseback... thumbup

It gets a lot of wrist time, and I'd have no hesitation in buying another from their range, or recommending them on here!

I'll add my vote for the Monster. I wear it in preference to my IWC most of the time and it is darned accurate too, losing a minute a month at most. For value for money, second to none.

Think i've now narrowed it down to the fact that its going to be a Christopher Ward....

Either a C4 Peregrine Chrono

http://www.christopherward.co.uk/C4IPK.html#

or a C7 Rapid Chrono.

http://www.christopherward.co.uk/C7SKS.html

hmm.
