If you want something that isn't quartz, it will be pretty large as the auto movements (for the most part) aren't the slimmest things to make!

SeiyaJapan is doing free shipping and he's got a huge range. If you're not too fussed about getting it right away, I would wholeheartedly recommend him. I bought my Night Monster from him, and it was a painless process start to finish. He even sent it EMS Tracked too.

All his prices are in USD but the exchange rate isn't too bad at the moment. From XE.com, you'd currently get about $467 for your £300.

Seiko Alpinist - $485, so about £312. 12mm thick, so not super skinny - but it's on a par with most decent automatics.

220gbp, leaving enough left over for a nice toshi.

I think a Mondaine might be my next purchase, just can't decide which one!

Just a point about buying from Seiya, or anyone else outside the EU, you run a high chance of getting collared for import duty, VAT and a handling charge when it arrives in the UK. This happened to me when I bought some G-shocks. It turned what was a good deal into a slightly overpriced one. My fault as I completely forgot about the charges.

^ good advice. I don't think a watch that has 'undergone repair' and is being 'returned to the owner' attracts duty and VAT, but this depends on how the seller marks up the customs chit...

That Seiko looks quite nice, but my worry is that I have quite small wrists so I'm not sure how it would look on my arm.

Is it available over here in the UK?

Handmade, quite chunky, leather straps made by 'toshi' here. His website is worth a browse just for the wtch pron alone.

I dont think you will find it here, but my Alpinist quartz got through fine from Seiya.

The good thing about Jap market seikos is they are designed for small wrists (like mine).

Another good thing about Seiya is that he sends all his watches complete with box and papers.

When I got my NM, it cost me about £35 in duty and the £12 Royal Mail Hostage Payment (for "processing" of the item). Not exactly arse raping me but it was a bit of a shock to have to pay the best part of £50 to get my watch that I'd just spent £300 on, but such is life!

A slight thread highjack.

But I am also looking in this price range.

I did try buying a Junghans Tempora, to be emailed today and find out that they aren't actually automatics but Quartz.

So I have been looking at other watches and have found this Tissot?

http://www.watchshop.com/mens-tissot-t-one-automat...

I am wanting an Automatic watch, ideally like the Junghans for £300.

So any other ideas gratefully received.

Nothing that really floats my boat there.

This is nice, does it come with a leather strap at all?

I think it's a SBPP001?
That IS nice, had a Tag Carrera look about it.

Buy yourself a leather strap and you can chop and change, will keep it looking fresh.

There is a link to it here: http://www.seiyajapan.com/product/S-SBPP001/SEIKO-...

But it's a touch similar to one I already have, nice though it is. I think I'm going to go for the Christopher Ward watch as it should be back in stock now.
