- One for work
- One for play
- One because it's so beautiful I had to have it
...and a G-Shock for the gym

It's the third one that I wear 90% of the time.

I think watches are more a man's thing than a woman's.
Which is peculiar really, I mean when it comes to bangles, bracelets and beads there's no stopping the never ending quest for the 'next best thing' or this seasons 'must have', ditto for shoes/boots/bags, so why not watches? I've seen my wifes friends pore over each others latest pandora bead bracelet and sitting right next to it, invisible almost, is a watch which never gets changed, mentioned or gets any attention - I'd have thought that it would open up a whole new world of retail therapy and jewellery festoon-ation. Strange, but probably for the best, as it would obviously suck manly watch cash out of the bank.

I have 10. Varying very widely in value. Wear the most expensive one 90% of the time, and sometimes when dressing up for a night out or something will take it off and put on something of about 1/20th the value, which seems all upside-down to me and my tiny mind.....

Brand snob? Dunno. I have an Armani which SWMBO bought me and which I quite like wearing as I think it looks good - and not just because she bought it! I also have a thing for CASIO watches, and not even the expensive ones - don't know why, maybe it dates from my childhood when Casio were all the rage and new and exciting.

A total of 7 if I include everything in the house that I can wear on my wrist and use to tell the time. Some of them are crappy digitals for the gym/cycling though.

The hardcore collection is my Speedie Pro, Sinn 856 and Stowa MO. I'd like to add to it this year with birth year Rolex 5513, but we'll see what funds allow for. It's also my 10th wedding anniversary this summer, and that means that I've no longer got a good excuse not to get my wife an eternity ring...

I've come to the conclusion that my watch habit has got out of hand so I'm rationalising, and selling off some of the expensive stuff I don't wear regularly enough to justify owning.

I'd like to get the collection down to 5 watches for various uses, but I doubt I'll ever be able to do that... hehe

And I thought I had a watch problem!
I ONLY have:
A titanium Tissot T660.
A Cartier Roadster.
An Accurist dress watch.
A 1970's Omega deville.
A broken Tissot twotimer.
A 1910 Spikins pocket watch.

I wonder if my wife can be persuaded to stump up for a Hamilton Ventura for my 40th this year?

Am I a snob? Well, I don't generally like quartz watches although my t660 is rugged as hell and still looks classy IMO. But I definately recognise the difference in quality between the two ends of my collection and I prefer the Roadster to the Accurist.

Only a couple here:

Rolex Sub s/s with cyclops 2000, bought on honeymoon.

AP Royal Oak Offshore Safari, bought last month.

Also bought a Rapport piano black with stainless winder to keep the things in, which so far i'm really happy with.

Will get round to posting a pic at some stage.

i have 26 at last count...

not brand snob.
just buy what i like..from an aesthetic and how it makes me feel point of view

have a Locman Tremila in orange
Panerai Luminor Marina
a Vostok Europe watch in stainless steel
A few Cabbana de Suca's..quirky division of Seiko from Tokyo flash
A few Mondaines
A Locman Stealth
A couple of Breils
A top of range G-Shock...MR-G
A Timex Explorer..

to name a few...most of them not that much, but rarity and quirkiness and as i said how it makes you feel, play a big part.

Plus the Panerai Luminor Marina was the watch i always wanted so got that..
used the money i made on selling the car i always wanted (Z3m Coupe in Estoril Blue, was just sat outside my house day in day out like a very expensive lamppost as work in central London)

I am just about to purchase the following

Chopard Mille Miglia Gran Turismo XL (black face)
always wanted to do the Mille Miglia and plan to do it wearing this watch
Bell and Ross in Grey (going for the orange croc strap)
i also love the look of Welder watches and i think the sturdiness and quality belies the price tag.

thoughts??

Last time we did this, I had 200 odd.

Yes, I was a bit of a snob. There were a couple of Pateks, Audemars, Vacheron, IWC, GP, Rolex, Zenith etc.

Then I got divorced.

Knocking on for 20 I think - definitely not a watch snob, just buy what I like the look of. Daily basher is a Casio Waveceptor for example!

Ive got two Fossil watches and I purchased them because they are of a very good quality and look good and are in my budget. It has nothing to do with the name. I do not consider Fossil to be flash at all. However both of the watches have had many compliments in the lifts at work or whilst out in the evenings. This is from people I dont even know.

I would never buy a high street branded watch EVER. I do not considre Fossil to be high streetm they started making watches before anything else.

Far too many according to my wife, not nearly enough in my eyes! biggrin

Currently:

Omega PO Big Orange
Rolex GMT Master Pepsi
Breitling Pluton
Christopher Ward C8
Citizen Nighthawk Titanium
Citizen Aqualand diver watch

Couple of werners that I don't wear...

On order is a Stowa MO, and I'm also looking to pick up a Speedie Pro at some point this year too! (Don't the tell the wife that though!!)

Am I a brand snob? If I'm honest a bit yes, but I'd say more of a repuatation snob if that makes sense. Nobody I know in 'real life' will have heard of, or appreciate the Stowa, so I'm not buying it to show off. However I do appreciate the Stowa brand and what it stands for, and that is definitely part of the appeal to me... I'm also a movement snob - if it has to be quartz, there needs to be a reason (i.e the Aqualand)...

I'd also LOVE :

JLC Master Calender
Some sort of regulateur
Some sort of minute repeater (AP, JLC, Patek, IWC - I'm not fussy!!)

Then I'd be happy! (Yeah right!!)biggrin

http://www.stormwatches.com/watches/mens/romeo-125... (Nickel bracelet, black face. I have tiny wrists, but I like its design and it functions well as a daily.)

And I'm getting a Casio G Shock to go travelling and diving with.

I would say I would "like" to be a brand snob, but being young I can't afford anything nice... so I am, but don't practise what I think!

First on my list is am Omega Planet Ocean, which I hope I will get upon graduation. biggrin

That and a G Shock will see me through until I can afford a Tag Carrera.
