It's just arrived (pics to follow) but I've just taken delivery of an Omega Constellation Chronometer, a tuning fork one!
Early '80s vintage... and it's lovely. Humming away like a bee!
picccies, picccies, picccies!!!Early '80s vintage... and it's lovely. Humming away like a bee!
Is it your first hummer?
I have a bit of an Accutron habit...
It's in lovely condition for it's age and was a very good buy.
I'll get some pics of that and my other recently acquired (a few days before the hummer!) Omega tomorrow.
I love reading this forum! This is the one I am waiting for after picking up an interest in watches late last year
I looked at Panerai, IWC, JLC et al but decided that I can't make that leap yet unfortunately. So for now I wanted something that has dual time zone and was pretty understated and simple in design (JLC Reverso is my grail watch) so I found this and was quite taken with it.
Yes, I know it is quartz, and that it is a "fashion" brand, the sort I thought I'd never go with (I'm really not a fan of Gucci, Chanel, D&G etc) but I like the fact that the features are hidden until you activate them and that the appearence is subtle otherwise. I've never seen one before, nor heard of it before this week, so there is a chance that it isn't to my taste on the wrist but we shall see.

Got one of these coming via a friend in Thailand.
It's a Seiko SNN217, seems to be a Thai only model so proved a bit of pain to actually source.
Comically, I can't figure out if it's Quartz, Manual or Auto either!
It's quartz with a Seiko 7T94 calibre. I can tell because there's no clutch. It's a Seiko SNN217, seems to be a Thai only model so proved a bit of pain to actually source.

I googled and serendipity found the answer!

An impressive bulk purchase there ND! I have nothing in the post at the moment - I'm still trying to decide!
Then bloody well pull your finger out! In the daytime it will look like this, albeit on a SS bracelet:
... and at night, like this:
Can't wait!

Love the thread.
To the prospective owner of the Ball Hydrocarbon. They're lovely watches. I have one so I'll tell you the lume on the dial in outstanding. At night it is fierce, and doesn't need charging from any light source.
The bezel on the other hand is the complete opposite. It does need charging, and fades really quickly compared to my other watches. (Aside from the little dot at the top of the bezel which glows as well as the dial because it uses the same tritium unit.)
That said, since I bought it about a month ago it's replaced my 3 other watches as a daily wear item.

Hehe! Excellent! Mine is in the post, but I now have to wait a week for it to arrive from Switzerland! I have a feeling the days are going to drag out ... I was hoping the tritium would be quite bright - Adds to the radioactive factor! To the prospective owner of the Ball Hydrocarbon. They're lovely watches. That, sir, is fking Excellent. I could have got one with hands that didn't need relumed or replaced and an original bracelet for about 3/4 of the price, but (a) it was made in 1967, and (b) I prefer wearing straps.
I hope it comes soon.

All you need now is an X-15...
No problem, it was up for £250, I paid a little less than that.
I've been doing lots of research to try and see if I can find out more about it, some places seem to indicate price is pretty much bang on, others that it is worth far more?! I didn't buy it to flip it so the 'value' wasn't (and isn't) too much of a consideration, but with a possible JLC purchase on the horizon a few sales may be required!
Oh and thanks!
