Im looking at buying an Omega Seamaster second hand.

Its a pretty classic watch and something ive always fancied owning, im currently squirreling away cash to hopefully buy one the middle of this year.

But is this the best option?

Im looking at spending 600-800 pounds and want something classic, not flash (hmm), that will hold its value and preferably swiss.

Define "classic"? Are you talking a 60s Seamaster?

Not classic as in age but something timeless. Maybe classic is the wrong word, something that will always be in style (ish).

ETA - Just checked and classic is the correct word and what I meant biggrin

IMO, a Seamaster is a pretty safe bet. You will easily get a good condition Automatic for that money too.
I had the same requirements, something fairly 'Classic' that wouldn't date and that would also hold it's money as it was my first 'decent' watch and I wasn't 100% that I would like wearing it.

Yes I thought that when I wrote it. hehe

fivesixseven8 - After having the same seiko kinetic for 10 years (wearing it everyday). I want to retire it and have something with a similar look that will last the next 10 years.

I bought a Anniversary Ti Seamaster (one of 1848 made) that's from 1999. Other than a few swirls and minor marks it looks almost new, only loses 20 seconds over a week and, IMO, looks great. I don't think you will go too far wrong with one of the "Swordhand" models.

Sorry I have just seen this thread. I tried to drop you a line but your profile is saying that you do not permit emails.

Please send me a PM and I'll give you some information.

Not sure if the PH email server has some sort of delay but I've emailed you and I haven't received my copy of that either, off home now, but if nothings popped through later in the evening I'll pop my address up here. wink
