hi

righty ho after considering that old gmt, i've been researching my rolexs and have whittled it down to 2. The GMT master II 116710 LN or the Sea-Dweller 16600.

I like things to have interesting features and i'd say that they are even in terms of that for me. The GMT with its 3 time zones at once or the sea dweller with its ludicrous depth rating.

The GMT has on its side the new design clasp, very secure apparently and the ceramic dial which appeals because i'm an geeky engineer. My mate rocks around wearing one and i've always admired it.

The sea dweller is also a handsome watch and has on its side that its no longer made. hence sort of exclusive if you stretch the term?. also maybe a chance of it appreciating slightly/not losing as much as the gmt?

opinions please

Sea Dweller, all day long.
I can't stand the cyclops personally and I much prefer divers watches... smile
The GMT is nice, but the Sea Dweller is gorgeous.

I'll vote the other way; GMT. I've always liked them and have this sneaking feeling that one day the Seadweller will just seem too bulky and cumbersome, whereas the GMT just works whatever, wherever.

large you say? hmm, my good friend has a GMT so i've had a good old look and wear of that but other then pictures I havent managed to see one in the flesh.

I'm off work tomorrow so i'll pop into town and see if anyone has one in, though I suspect that'll be unlikely. Failing that i'm in london this weekend so may be able to find one there to look at

I'm lucky enough to have one of each (well a GMT 1 and a SD anyway)

GMT is the one that gets worn. The SD is fab. but wears a little "taller" than the GMT due to a slightly deeper case.

Either way you'll be getting a nice piece of kit

The GMTiiC is best of current crop imho and is beautiful to wear. Hard to fault.

It is a tricky one, mostly been sat in the pub with my mate wearing his gmt II. It is very nice. One a quest to try and find a sea dweller to compare it to tomorrow ands then decision will be made by monday

The GMT is a classic - as an aside, di Montezemolo has been wearing a 'Pepsi' one for decades.

However, it's a Rolex - how about something that's better made? (and perhaps less obvious, and arguably a little more special?)

I forgot to mention stiglet is yours the two tone pepsi GMT? how do you get on with it, is it a bit in your face over say the black sea dweller? does it wear well with a suit?

The obvious answer is get the one you prefer (or get both).

I prefer the SD & am not a cyclops fan, but the GMT is a fine watch.

Do you purely go on aesthetics or bring in depreciation or exclusivity due to discontinued into it? I'll try tomorrow to get my hands on a sea dweller tomorrow. If I cant find the 16600 can anyone say how the 116660 compares in size to it, as obviously pictures tell you what it looks like just not the size so well

I like the SD because it has a nice comfortable feel and classic appearance. feels better size to me than a sub on the wrist. I like DSSD but it is fairly thick in the case.

The GMT2C is great, but a bit to shiney for me, The bezel is stunning though.

I would Choose the one you like the look and feel of the most.

Mine was pepsi then when I got it serviced I had Bexley put on a black bezel* but when I got the SD I got another pepsi which is on it just now.

I (have to) wear a suit every day and think it looks OK. I bought an old datejust from Neil at Chronomaster a couple of years back and will wear that if I'm really concerned but normally it's the GMT

I tried the deepsea but that was far far to big for my puny wrist!

  • NB I thought Bexley would send me back my nicely faded pepsi - not so!!!!!

I have both the SD and the SDDS and the SDDS is bigger and heavier - I really notice the difference when I swap them over, obviously I prefer the SD over the GMT but you have to go for what you like best, get to a dealer who has them all and try them on.
