I think I'm going to treat myself to a planet ocean for my 30th but is there anything I should know that may put me off? I've had a poke around on TZ and here and they seem to get the thumbs up all round but this is my 1st serious watch so I'd rather ask before I part with my money.

I'm as yet undecided on which size, the large isn't too big but I think the regular could be too small. I'm definitely going for steel bracelet with black bezel and numbers.

I visited goldsmiths today and they seemed fairly keen to give a discount on the £2200 price advertised but they warned me there was a 10% price rise immanent, is this just sales man shpeal or is there any truth in it.

I know they depreciate and second hand ones can be had at a good price but this is a watch that I will never sell so I'm definitely buying new. I've seen Dom H's name mentioned on this forum but it looks like he only deals in second hand, is there anywhere else I should have a look at or should I just thrash out a deal at goldsmiths?

Thanks all.

I got a planet ocean for my first decent watch - now have a brietling avenger and a rolex deepsea but the omega is definately my favourite.

Liking the rubber straps, did you buy them from Omega, or from alternative maker?

If so where did you source them?

Could be tempted

Buy it on the bracelet even if you think you want it on a strap.

The bracelet is eye-wateringly expensive if you have to buy one later.

That said, I like the bracelet; it's better than that found on Rolexes costing twice as much. Especially the clasp.

The deal is done.

Thanks for getting in touch Dominic but I managed to strike a good deal at goldsmiths.

I've gone for the 45mm white numerals, black bezel and bracelet. I'll have to sneak a look at it later but it won't see the light of day again until my birthday in June.

The best colour combination, but I doubt you'll be able to wait until June - It's bad enough waiting the few days it takes for the watch to be delivered! hehe

Obviously a man of tastesmile
That's the grown-up version, and very handsome it is too.

I'm a big kid, so naturally I have the tango edition.
