Hi,

I have been trying to locate a specific Daytona for a friend of mine who is visiting from abroad next week. I've been offered a white gold Daytona which has a "Paul Newman Limited Edition Face" it was made in 2008...it isn't exactly what my friend wants....I am trying to get a photo of it but in the meantime am trying to find an image on the web. As you can imagine putting Daytona and Newman into Google comes up with thousands of references to the original Newman Daytona's.

Does anyone have any idea what this watch looks like ?

Sounds nasty, the modern Daytonas are much bigger and I would suspect it looks odd. Doubt it is a genuine Rolex dial too.

Not quite clear on this..
You don't want a 2008 white gold Daytona with "Paul Newman limited edition dial", what is it that your friend is specifically looking for, do you have the model ref and a complete description?

Sorry yes should have explained. I am trying to get a white gold daytona, black strap, white face at a decent discount to list. I know a guy that can get hold of watches at good prices...he's found one Daytona with a black strap but not a white face. He has also offered me this other watch which has a white gold bracelet too but has this "Paul Newman Ltd Edition Face"...can't find it anywhere on the web. It's second hand so comes out at a similar price to the leather strap watches.

From everything i've seen, there wasn't a Paul Newman edition, and the term often gets thrown about for any white face daytona.

I thought the name came about because he was wearing an exotic dial daytona on a magazine cover. A bit like the Steve McQueen watches and the Burt Reynolds GMT?

Yep, it was just a model, that Paul Newman wore, and it was always called the Paul Newman after that, no links to him apart from the fact he also owns/owned one.

Right, you're after a Rolex 116519 with a white Arabic dial, like this...

And this is the watch you've been offered, with the latest white Arabic figures and black sub dials.

It's very loosely (and not by Rolex, and it certainly isn't a limited edition) referred to as a 'Paul Newman'. It is available on a bracelet (ref 116509)shown here..

Does this help? If you need any info or help give me a call...

+1 I love the Daytona but the lack of date as a daily-wearer would frustrate the buggery out of me!

Not a PN but I have a late 2009 WG daytona 116509 that I would sell. It is a grey face with all papers and box and reciepts etc. Decent discount to new too if it was any use to your pal.
