Seriously, though.

Get the Zenith.

That's a proper heirloom watch, is that.

I would put it in the bank just in case he needs it spending on something to make his last days comfortable.

I would suggest:

1). Don't go to vegas.
2). Don't spend so much you would consider/need to sell it in future.

Then you have a permenant reminder of your grandad on your wrist.
yes

Edit: To the OP, what did your Grandad do at Perkins? I'm currently the third generation of my family to work there, in fact your Grandad and my Grandad must have worked there at the same time as my Grandad would have been 95 this year if he was still around.

Go with a classic/vintage/used watch, you will get much better value and IMO many current watches are excessivly large. Look back 10-15 years and for £2k you will find JLCs, IWCs, Omegas etc., whatever takes your fancy.

Wow! Well, I'll ask him when I see him next - but as I remember he started when they were on Cromwell Road (IIRC) and he worked directly with Frank P, I seem to remember there were only a handful of employees then. He worked there through the war, as a foreman I believe (so working with hundreds of women!). He retired in the late 70's I think. I will find out more though!

Do this now. You'll always remember Grandad fondly.
