As andy_s says - its a pretty close run thing between Zenith/Movado and Breitling/Hamilton/Heuer/Dubois Depraz - so I don't think you can say unambiguously which was the "first". But the El P certainly was a complete integrated movement unlike the B/H/H/DD modular and it was definitely the first to run at 36,000 vph, allowing (in theory) timing to 1/10 sec.
My two both have the handwind version of the movement, which does allow them to be a little slimmer (though there's not much in it) and yes, they do both run at 36,000.

I've got the ivory dial on a croc with deployant, saw one for the 1st time on TZ-UK which sold instantly and had to have one, eventually found one from a grey dealer in the States.
