How the hell do you register on TZ-UK?

I fully and totally understand and appreciate why registration is 'publicly' closed - but anyone got any clues?

There's obviously a way - as there are newbies signing up every day.

Unfortunately that's not possible for some of us, unless I work from home or on holiday (neither planned for anytime soon).

My best advice is to keep trying ... I was unable to register on the forums for awhile, until suddenly one day the site started taking on new members! Unfortunately if a new member posts up unwanted spam, Eddie has a habit of closing off registration for a few weeks/months.

It's a bit of a pain that you need 25/50 posts to access certain areas of the forum though ...

Yeah, I saw that - something I don't get. It strikes me as quantity over quality, and posting for the sake of posting. I guess there's logic behind it. Not one I get.

Oh well, never mind. Thanks anyway. I'll stick with PH I guess smile

That's pretty much what I did! It's worth the time in attempting to register just for the sales corner alone ... Lots of traffic, lots of respected sellers and a wide variety of watches to choose from! There is a JLC Master Compressor Chrono on there that I'm drooling over at the moment!

So far I've only sold a painting through TZ-UK hehe

It's only the sales corner that I'm after. And I've got to make 25/50 posts to see it. Probably no point.

I'd say definitely no point. TZ is not just a place to buy & sell. There's ebay for that.

Thanks Andy. I'd never use ebay to buy that kind of stuff. No faith nor trust in 99.99% of the sellers on there.

Beware that if you do get on and get enough posts to see the sales corner, you may not be able to stop buying watches laugh At least that's what's happened to me!

Christ Kinky run for the hills, you will be buying watches like you wouldn't believe!
Escape while you can. smile

Oh and the speed posting you refer to is rather frowned upon and the members rather swiftly booted. It's a good place.

Join the club, just building up now. Although am getting involved with other parts.

I have also just joined "the watch forum", there is a for sale section there.

I applied before Christmas and got accepted after a day or two.
I was interested in buying a watch but somehow I find it hard to post 50 posts before I can access the sales part.
It's not like PH where you can post 50 posts in a couple of days with there being so many varied subjects and you don't quite run the same risk of saying the wrong thing.

In 2 weeks I have got up to 12 posts. I'm trying with that as well.

It's been hoist by its own petard I think; it's where the majority of enthusiasts probably gather, so it makes excellent sense to have a sales corner. As this is the most diverse and (mostly) interesting UK watch site the watches for sale reflect this - UK based so no worries over 'No CONUS' or import duty and delayed packages while offering a diverse selection of 'collector' or well regarded watches from private sellers.

Unfortunately this also means that it's one of the best s/h or pre-owned seller-to-seller sites going. However, the original intent of the site (and therefore largely the original members or true collectors/enthusiasts point of view) has been seen as being almost usurped by people who aren't going to spend hours a day pouring over watches and discussing the merits of a particular movement over another, but rather are there to buy or look for a watch to buy or sell. There was also a problem with spam I think.

Trust or reputation are one of the corner-stones of a good trading community - lots of newcomers all the time may dilute this it was said. Yes, but everyone has to start somewhere and if someone is a buyer or seller with 2 posts and no history you take the same sort of stance as if it's being advertised on ebay or another site.

It's also led to either people speed-posting 25/50 posts or people being accused of speed-posting 25/50 posts. You can't win.

It's a bit of time to invest, and predisposes an ongoing interest but what I would say is that once you 'go over', though, reluctantly or not, you do open up an Aladdins cave/Pandoras box of tasty morsels...

Either that or some cross-members may be able to help?

Oh... I didn't realise the blocked forums were for men who like womens clothing.
