Chronograph functions - How often should you use it?

Personally I use mine every day anyway, it won't do it any harm to run it now and again.
In most modern watches the oil is synthetic, so shouldn't gum up/freeze the movement if only used infrequently though - certainly if serviced each 3-4yrs.
Vintage Seiko 6xxx chronos are the one to keep running all the time - to stop wear on the clutch.
