A few months ago I purchased both an Omega Seamaster and an Omega Speedmaster at the same time. The Seamaster is used, the Speedy new.

However I realise I should not have bought the Speedmaster - it was a pure impulse buy. I have just collected the watch from the repairers after heavily scratching the glass and getting it replaced, and now realise that I cannot live without a date on the watch.

Having never sold a watch, am I going to get more for it using it as a part exchange on a different watch (perhaps the Speedy Moonphase I should have bought or a Tag Silverstone) or will I get just as much (although not what I paid for it of course) simply selling it either to a dealer or privately ?

All advice welcome.

Cheers

I would suggest that a private sale would be your best bet, as you are more likely to lessen your losses! The Speedmaster has a large following and is very popular, so it shouldn't take too long to sell smile

TZ-UK is one of the best places to sell a watch, but you do need 50 posts in the forum before you can create a 'for sale' thread. Alternatively, the Pistonheads 'Classifieds' page has a section for watches and it is free to advertise - When I was selling my TAG Link Calibre S, I had quite a bit of interest via my PH listing smile

You could always try part exchanging the watch for another and see what sort of deal the AD/Jewelers offer you?
