So here are the choices, would appreciate comments from anyone with an opinon but especially from owners of the various pieces:-

IWC Big Pilot? feels a little light?

Audermars Piguet Royal Oak Auto? is it too small?

JLC master Compressor Extreme? are there too many buttons?

I also thought about a rolex GMT master 2 but though it wasnt quite as special for some reason.

I have two other watches one is a Cartier tank on a leather strap so this is fine as dinner type watch, and Bretiling Montbriliiant which is quite rugged and casual so really want a proper respected maker next, and the above is my initial shortlist. As mentioned happy for other suggestions though.

Interested to hear what you think.

Cheers

Personally I would go for the AP. It's beautiful.

If it was my choice from those three, I'd go for the IWC. The other two don't appeal to me at all.

And even the IWC isn't "perfect" - I'm not keen on sub dials, and the crown offends me too!

At that price range there is huge choice! Glashutte make beautiful watches, so do Bregeut amongst others! What are you looking for in a watch? Hublot comes to mind as well.

I suppose i am just looking for a real quality watch probably a twice/three times a week wearer, from one of the top manufacturers.

I tend to quite like chronographs, sub dials and the bigger faces + 40mm, IWC port 7 days would be a real contender but my brother has that watch soI dont really want the same.

Also quite like leather straps, think if i went royal oak it would be leather also.

Thats why I quite like the JLC as the strap is interchangeable, think this is quite a nice option.

The AP can be had on a leather strap as well. They are special AP straps and pretty pricey but the AP in my opinion is, as mentioned above, flawless.

Glashutte make a chrono too, it's really nice.

Glashütte, Lange, Dornblüth and Zenith would be the other ones I'd have a look at.
