Decisions, decisions, after considering a number of watches(Oris, Glycine and Sinn)circa £1000. I've got my eye on a lovely Oris divers,

but

Thoughts please.

Oris for me, please. I find the Sinn a little too cluttered. But that's just my opinion.

You should check tz-uk for both preowned Sinns and Oris's.

Can't comment on the sinn, but I have an oris and it is very well made for the price you.pay for them.

Main issue here is one is a diver's watch, the other a chronograph so they are very different watches. Both are however tool watches rather than dress watches.

I have an Oris and it is very well put together - I think you get more than you pay for in terms of finish, quality etc. The same can be said for the Sinn - very well made, capable pieces and certainly up there with the more well-known brands.

I think it really comes down to the style of watch you want. Perhaps look at the Sinn diver styles too?

Oris are nice watches & good quality for the money.

Those divers are however, pretty thick so do try one on before deciding.

I'm a Sinn fan though & if you like the chunkiness of the Oris have a look at the U-Series or the 757

I quite like the Oris, but Sinn do more for me personaly; the 103 style us classic chrono although I'd plumb for the black bezel.
Quite different watches though.

Mmmmmmm Black 103, just made this more difficult, cheers!

I'm looking for a tool watch and obviously one with style, I wonder if a defibrillator discharge would affect a watch? Probably not I think.

Prefer the Oris out of the 2 you have shown - mainly because it's a more simple design.

I don't know anything about Sinn, but I can say that Oris is a very good watch for the cash - I've got one and it's never missed a beat.

Re:the poster asking about the date window - mine has a hand for the date (which goes anticlockwise along the outside of the watch face), so I don't think the 6 o'clock window is a feature on all of their watches

I have an Oris Divers date with the steel bezel (see http://www.friendsoforis.com/video/diver-date-stee... ). Its very well made, gains 6 seconds a day, and I got a 12% discount here in the UK just before the price rise in May. Its a heavy watch (200g), but I like the weight and the fact its very good quality for the price I paid.
I've just ordered 2 watches from friendsoforis - a BC3 advanced and a ladies Artelier Date Diamond. I got a $200 discout on the former as a special offer to forum members and another discount on top for ordering a second watch. So far service has been good, the watches have arrived in the UK and the tax payable has been "favourable". One watch arrives tomorrow, the other next week. I'll PM you if you want once they arrive, I expect everything to be in order.
Finally, if you register your Oris at www.oris.ch, you get an extra years warranty (taking it to 3 years).

Oris or Sinn...it's a tricky and good decision to have to make but for me the fact Sinn is a more rare wins it for me.

I think over the past year I've seen prices of 2 LE's at 2.6K & 3K and a non-LE recently went unsold on the 'Bay with a min price of 2K - either way more than the grand the OP has to play with Bry. I've seen 3-4 this year for sale, so you'd have to be lucky as well. There's one that some poor Korean has been trying to flog for months now and he's at 2.2K iirc now after coming down quite a bit since his original try - it's quite a tatty one but I'd get it if it was priced right and I had the funds, it has some lovely bezel fading.

The Sinn 103 or even the Guinand equivalent offer good vfm at that point, but they are quite traditional looking, which I like but isn't everyone's cup of tea.

In the price range may be the EZM3, which is a tough little bugger as well, including the argon & CuSO4 stuff -

The Sinn Ezm 2 Hydros were always quite cool the hands seemed to magically float around the dial. biggrin

Cool they really are lovely watches I've owned two in the past.

Water resistant to some daft depth like 5,000 metres or 500Kg/Cm2 of pressure.
