Just to satisfy my curiosity, I saw a guy wearing a watch on the train this morning and wondered what it was.

Black croc strap.
Polished silver case, white face, no bezel.
3 inner dials plus date, bottom one had moon phase.
Looked chunky enough for automatic.
2 oblong buttons either side of crown.

Any ideas?

I suppose you could have asked him but the time you took staring at his groin area (roughly the same height as a resting hand) would have probably had him running away screaming had you approached him. biggrin

Close but the inner dials were top, midleft and bottom, date on midright.

Thanks, was just doing that and it looks to be a Rotary after all that. Oh well, that and the Ryder Cup and Monday morning's now over. Cheers.

I speak from experience. I really need to train myself to not look at watches on wrists unless they're at upper body height eg someone scratching face or looking at watch.

I am the same if I meet someone and their watch catches my eye, I look like someone with a neck injury trying to get a look at it.
we already agreed that you're odd

Don't make the mistake of doing what I did at a party when I was drunk - just went for the guy's wrist; everyone thought I was going for his peepee.
