Solar Impulse is a nice watch. Remember trying one on in the Omega Boutique in the Bull Ring. Omega "fire sold" a bunch of them for £3k a few years back, but they pre worth more than that now. I'd buy one, on the Ti bracelet if I had the spare funds.
I agree (no surprise there). On to sourcing one then...

Can anyone tell me which model Speedmaster automatic this is ?

It was a present from my late grandfather ... and is 15 plus years old

I've never seen anything like that, but a bit of a search suggests it might be an Olympic Speedmaster (not all, it seems, have Olympic rings on the dial).

Many thanks GCH

The date, 1996, certainly ties in, Japan only market is a real surprise. It was purchased new from an Omega dealer in London. I still have the original black leather strap.

If I had my time again, though, I'd get one of these instead

Same watch, but with an added Moonphase (although I wonder if that is actually the exact model I mean in the photo...?).

Just read this with interest and wondered if someone would mention the Moonphase. I got mine back in 2010, at the time I had a job for which the moon complication was useful. Now that I do something else I almost wish I had the straight Speedmaster Pro. Such a desirable watch, just love the simplicity.

Here's mine! It's a year old now. I chose it for its toughness and versatility as it's my only watch. The plastic crystal had picked up quite a few scratches - some deep - but polywatch and a bit of elbow grease restores it. The brown leather works well I think.
