Was a tad nippy in the breeze, but it turned milder later on thankfully!

A peculiar little chap on a bike said hello to me in passing this afternoon, wonder who that was?! Lol! wink

Was supposed to be meeting up with a mate up there on Thursday and the heading up to the A14 for a few hours, but he had to pull out at the final minute... sods law! Did manage to catch this at around 10.45am though which made up for any disappointment though! biggrin -

Assume you got overtaken by that wally in the grey Audi A/S3 further on up Bushmead Rd? Came flying past me like a bat out of hell a few minutes after you went past me! Certainly wasn't driving to the conditions that's for sure!... How I haven't seen a serious accident occur down at that blind corner opposite the sub-station entrance in all the times I've gone out to take pics I don't know...

WOW! That could be the only 1 of its kind in the UK I reckon?

They have some top recovery tackle, have you seen the BJ and the Bear one?

It's bearable out there at the minute so long as there isn't much of a breeze up... eek

If you had been a minute or two earlier this afternoon you'd most likely have seen or at least heard the yellow Murcielago that went south at 1.05pm! biggrin

Yeah I think that might well be at the minute. Mr Yates has run quite a few various American makes over the years, well up for the job apparently! cool

I saw the article about the BJ & the Bear unit in one of the truck mags a little while ago, very smart looking thing! Really do like the look of their new MB Arocs 8x4 heavy wrecker they recently acquired quite a bit too. Saw that at Truckfest last year, but never had the chance to get a decent look round/shot of it unfortunately. frown

+1!

Crouch Recovery run a very tidy fleet of interesting heavy wreckers too.

STOP THE PRESS!!!

New place and time: End of the St. Neots bypass (B&Q end) @ 13.20 today.
That was a sneaking move James, I only just saw you at the last moment!

Better or worse place to take photos?

hehe

Thought a change of scenery would make a nice change for the start of the week.

Been seeing plenty of good stuff going in and out of the 3 building sites in the area in the last few weeks so its worth a trip out to keep an eye on them... smile

It is a good spot along there, I should make more use of it really. The strip of land outside of the pub up the road is good too.

My latest stuff will be up on Flickr later as always.

Oh yes, very nice! thumbup

That's his R580 Golden Griffin (One of 50 from a limited run in '14 commemorating 50 years of Scania trucks in UK) No.30 IIRC, which is the date of Mike Ponsonbys birthday. smile

Nice looking little rubber duck he's loading there too.

Always nice to see Mr Ponsonbys finest. Cheers for that!

Speaking of Liebherr kit... I see Anthill Plant from Cambridge way have had a couple of nice diggers working the muckaway pile out of the new Lidl development in Eaton Socon this past week -

Neat little 906 on the back of the Arocs ^ there. cool

Must come and say hello at the next St Neots riverside meeting if you can make it! smile

Very nice! Anthill seem to be a pretty good customer of ours I must say, I've prepped a few machines for them now.
I thought I remembered you saying something or other about the Golden Griffin ages back, that's what made me take the photo! Must have cost a penny or two! Saw an F reg Foden making its way up the A1 this evening, my God it sounded nice.
Yep all things being well I'll be at the next one! Would be great to meet you

Nice one! Yeah, they do appear to be a very decent outfit for sure. Really like their livery too, quite quirky and stands out!

I got chatting to one of the foremen on that job site last week or the week before and he was telling me about a job they had going in Devon where their digger driver un-earthed a stash of old roman coins on a civil job they were doing. Had to go back down there for court and they ended getting awarded half the value of the coins or something according to one of the papers! Bet if he comes back up here all future KFC lunches will be on him lol!...

It sure wouldn't have been as affordable as a well equipped Iveco Hi-Way with around about the same power, but as an investment, which is what Ponsonbys ^ was and I imagine a good few of the other 49 were, it'll be unbeatable. Nothing holds more value in the truck market than a V8 Scania, let alone limited editions. cool

The other recent limited edition Scania well worth looking out for is the BlueStream. They're stunning looking things!

Nice spot on the Foden too. Getting rarer at that age now (Assume it was a showmans truck?) Imagine it would most likely been fitted with a customised stack and or possibly a Jake Brake if it sounded well. (Can really make an old Cummins or CAT 450 engine sing through either!)
I'm very keen on Fodens. Particularly in 8 wheel tipper form.

I couldn't make the first meet unfortunately, but i'll definitely be at the next one. likewise, be good to meet up. smile
