Marsworth here, no vehicle of note, but I hope to change that towards the middle of 2014.

Aylesbury - but not sure an xc90 is going to set the world alight at a PH meet- the bike might though ;-)

Lots of locals appearing :-)

I just need to get an alarm fitted to my RX7 so I can insure it, then MOT it and assuming it passes (ha!) then I will have a run worthy car!

Although an X5 diesel isn't the most PH car in the world.

Sorry to thread hijack, but what year is the X5? I have been considering a 3.0 diesel but was initially looking at getting another 3 series however having recently seen the prices of the X5's now seriously considering one, what are they like?

Without derailing the thread too much

Good:
Bags of interior space - can take 4 suitcases, 4 hand luggage, 4 adults and a dog without blinking
High ground clearance - great for the flood waters... not that i did that at all biggrin
Good in snow - despite what Top Gear say, it coped pretty well in the snow on summer tyres. Yes- going up a mountain maybe tricky, but for what we get, it did fine last 2 years.
Toys- a lot come with half decent spec, i got the usual stuff, plus HUD, reversing camera, heated front electric seats and side step bars.

Bad:
Running costs - I got the pre-LCI models, so has the 6 speed auto and high tax. Does somewhere between 26-30mpg, 32 on MWay. Tax is just shy of £500year, rubber can be 250 a corner etc. Im now without a warranty, but it had some work done with Sytner, and it would've been a 8-10k fix job (screen wash hose had split under the car from previous owner. Had to take out the seats, replace all the electronics and carpets)
Ride- Ditch the run-flats, and becomes better. After a while you get used to the way it rides, and most days i don't notice it, because it's all i ever drive.
Size- on motorways and rural roads, its fine. Come to a multistory car park, 3pt turn or a tight, small city like Bath, it can becomes squeaky bum time.

I got it because my job meant if i needed to be somewhere i could get there, carrying lots of kit, and cast and crew. So a small car was out. Range rovers were over budget, XC90's didn't do anything for me, and trading my old 120d meant that sytner were able to do a bit of a better deal.

I'm planning to get it re-mapped later this year.
It's an early model with 230bhp, but put your foot down, and for 2ton worth of metal, it does go. Probably not as much as you hope, but more than you expect.

Do it- whats the worse that can happen?

I'm Wendover/Great Missenden way. Don't have the car or really the time for meets but can provide a venue! wink
