Can anyone recommend a decent place to eat for my wife and In-Laws within a few minutes walk of the corn exchange in Cambridge? Italian, French or English cuisine, not a cafe type but proper restaurant.
Thanks in advance.

Try the Cambidge Chop house on Kings parade.Just a left turn out of the corn exchange and a 5minute walk. You can dine down stairs also.Opposite the entrance is the fantastic clock, try to watch an listen on the hour(look it up and impress everyone).

Agree with the Chop House. Food is good. There is an Argentinian Steak restaurant called Cau very close by which is good but obviously doesn't fit the English/French/Italian requirement. I think it's owned by the guys who run Gaucho but I might be wrong.

If you want a decent pub for a drink before or after the Pint Shop is very close by with a good selection of beers, or try the Eagle for a bit of Cambridge History.

jamies - yes, the food and service aren't top notch , but neither are the prices..... personally, it is worth a visit, the dining room is spectacular... mega high ceiling, large dome, very grandiose... so, if you are going for good food, the chop house, for an occasion jamies.....
marco pierre white has a place in Cambridge, not too far too walk, that cau place sounds interesting, might need to look it up..... theres also the hotel du vin..... if you don't want to eat there, go for a drink in the basement bar....

ps only place I haven't been is cau, yet!

The Pint Shop is meant to be very good and Cau also, but the latter can get can get quite expensive if you're just after a decent steak ...
