Folks,

Am about to start an ICE upgrade to my 1962 Merc 220SE (speakers, amp, retro head unit, sub) - but want to keep things very 'unobtrusive' and as close to stock as possible.

Does anybody know of a local-ish dealer / installer (I am in Welwyn Garden City) who has got a track record of doing 'careful' work on classics? They may need to be some e.g. speaker pod fabrication - so I'm reluctant to trawl the usual ICE guys unless they can genuinely show good work on classic or 'high value' cars.

As every penny counts, an independent installer might work better (e.g. one who I can work with to source the hardware at a decent price yet they can do the skillful installation bit without pushing a specific set of brands etc)

Advice / insight (and experiences...) welcomed

Cheers folks,

Palfers

Advanced AV in Knebworth. Not used them myself but know of people that have and they come highly recommended from those people. Have seen some very tasty motors in there!

Hi, I've always used autotronix in bedford, know it's a bit of a travel but worth it. I have had loads of cars done there, 2 Porsche 911, RR Sport, had my current lambo done and you cannot see any changes but the sounds awesome, currently got a gen 3 prelude in there for a full system, body and engine mods, well worth a trip.

Thanks folks. Will contact AdvancedAV and Autotronix - but had a good conversation with Gary at AudioFile who gave me a lot of confidence that they are skilled with classics and making an install almost 'invisible'.

Another plus here for them, quality of their work is first rate and they do some very high end cars and installs.
