My understanding is that the 'Fly' was opened up for the meeting by one of the managers who was a car enthusiast. He has since moved on to pastures new and no one else has the same enthusiasm to open early on a Sunday morning.
This, and they have a good flow of business from the new nearby centreparks... So marketing priority has changed.lanan said:

The assumption is that the costs of opening up, paying staff and overheads was offset by the business it brought in, it's not like the staff and utilities providers were providing their services for free, it may not have been profitable enough to maintain it without the dedication of the relevant managerfeef said:

Exactly that. Whenever I've been to the Fly meets there's been a good - sometimes huge - turnout but relatively few people were spending money in the establishment. Basically we got a free meeting space and all they got was to open up early and admire some fab machines (what more could anyone want...). They could have done more to encourage people to spend, but maybe we could have done a bit more to honour our side of the bargain.
